Hacking M3 Lite Update Problem

I recently purchased an M3 Lite for my NDSL. I also purchased a 1GB SanDisk microSD to use with the M3 device.

I formatted the microSD using a FAT16 file system with 64K cluster size. I then placed the updagcsd.e28 file in the root directory of the microSD. I placed the microSD into the M3 device and placed the device in my NDSL. I'm also using the Passcard3 in the card slot of the NDSL.

A message appears, telling me that the update file was found. I press "start" to begin updating. However, at this point, "Updating..." appears on the screen, but nothing seems to be happening. I've waited several minutes (about 15 minutes) and nothing appears to be happening.

Does anyone know what the problem might be? Do I have a defective cartridge? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

it happens with the e28 update, start the cart in gba mode and update in gba mode and it'll be fine.
