You cannot use 6.5 on CTRNAND if you haven't upgraded to the latest version of the payloads, if I'm not mistaken. It just won't work.
No I mean, I WILL upgrade my O3DS, but I'm not sure about upgrading the a9lh on my N3DS since I already have SD-less booting working with a previous commit.

Personally I would upgrade. There is a reason why Aurora hasn't released it.
And it is not compatible with the SDless option of 6.5.

The previous version included a miniCFW directly in the payload. This version tells the payload to look into CTRNAND if it can't find the bin on the SD card. Which makes it a lot easier to update, I guess compatibility is better and you have a complete CFW.

Does the plailect guide ctrtransfer fix patched NS/Home menu/TWL_firm/AGB_firm patched titles? it just transfers another 3ds's NAND into our own, one would think these files are clean and not patched.

I know this might be pretty dumb but how do I actually update the emunand version? My 3ds keeps bugging me there's a new update.

Well how do I know its safe to? Because rxtools had a little thing appear at the front of the version.
Oh, you are using RXTools?
You are on your own then, I don't have any experience with that CFW :-/
I thought you were using Luma because you posted on Luma-3ds thread

There is Emu written before the system version when in EmunAND and Sys when in SysNAND, if you have selected the option of course.

Just Update if you use Luma.
It is safe, just make sure you see emu in the version in the system settings and just update

Well i'm on emunand and everytime I open up system settings I don't ever see "emu" infrount of the version number.

WELL:
If you're using menuhax like a scrub, you'll be using emuNAND so just update because you wont be on >9.2

If you're using A9LH, you cant exactly lose it on sysNAND.

Oh and sysNAND >emuNAND unless you like using space on your SD for NO REASON
