To explain it better: AuReiNand can detect if screens were already inited, and if not it inits them *only when needed* (launching a payload, displaying errors or the config menu). Fix94's A9LH inits the screens but leaves the backlight at zero. This borks the detection, so AuReiNand (correctly) tries to display the menu without initing them again, but at zero brightness... If the splash screen isn't important to you, maybe you should switch to a non screen init A9LH. Else just use the regular A9LH

That might be the case, but there are people that suggest features for their own needs and people that suggest features that everyone benefits from. Like me and some people suggested a "Setting menu" to get rid of the flags. And it was done. And it was awesome.

Edit: btw do you have ea3e45d? <3 I'm a flash-aholic Nexus user. It applies on the 3DS as well. xD

@Raylight, if you want to maximize use of AuReiNand with the cool features @Aurora Wright has added, you should shift A9LH to the @Aurora Wright fork.

@Raylight try this. Just copy your firm files into the aurei folder and it should work as advertised.

Edit: This mod also does not need the _bl files anymore. They can be deleted.

so arm9select is useless now what is the original a9lh and can i just install it via HB launcher and the arm9loaderhax.3dsx? or do i need to downgrade and re apply

arm9select is not useless, I still use it. Like you said in a previous post, creating the default_bl will allow you to see AuReiNand 3.12 config menu. After you have set the config options, you could delete the default_bl file as unless you want to change options again you only need to see the config menu once. I just had noticed you are now using updated sysnand instead of emunand so I made the suggestion that maybe installing @Aurora Wright A9LH fork may be more in line with your current setup.


@Raylight the mod I linked to you just enables backlight for AuReiNand and looks for AuReiNand.bin instead of default.bin. Sorry if I confused you.

it seems pointless to have if ARN does it now. where is her fork? and do i need to downgrade to install a new version of a9lh? or can i just run the 3dsx file and it will overwrite it.

You would want to do a full install which means compiling A9LH using your otp.bin like I did for you before. And yes you would run the .3dsx from HBL again to install over @FIX94 A9LH you currently have installed. If you decide to change A9LH install be aware some people have bricked while making the change (mostly due to user error I believe). You can still use AuReiNand 3.12 with arm9select, but if you want to change A9LH forks you can. All current A9LH forks are similar and really one has no advantage over another. Some have screen init/some do not, your current A9LH fork has screen init with backlight set to 0. Just create the default_bl if you did not use the mod I linked or if you did use the mod I linked just place your firm files in the aurei folder and you can enter the AuReiNand cofig menu by holding select and powering on.

@Raylight, how is the udpated sysnand? I remember you asking me about it before, but when I helped you get setup at that time you were content with emunand.

Which did you decide to use. Did you just create the default_bl or did you install the arm9select mod I linked. They will both achieve the same results. Again the only reason I chose to run @FIX94 A9LH and arm9select is I can load payloads easier by just holding the one button where in AuReiNand to use the chain loader I believe you need to hold L+R+payload button. AuReiNand is awesome and arm9select just makes it easier for me to enjoy it's awesomeness without changine A9LH forks.

I just made the bl but i did study the payload folder. Im using sys nand to get back some space plus the less i strain the sd the better. and i want the ds digitals to work without needing 2 of them. sysnand boots up in 9sec.

Arm9Select lets you hold buttons to launch Decrypt9 or Emunand9 or anything that supports coldboot a9lh. but now that this does it you dont really need it

@leonmagnus99 yes arm9select is like bootctr but without a config file. @FIX94 created it to be easier to select arm9 payloads and customize which payloads get backlight. His main reason for setting backlight to 0 was if you choose not to use splash screens with AuReiNand this will disable the lcd flash you see before AuReiNand loads. You can still use splash screens with the mod I linked earlier. AuReiNand has an arm9select style loader included, I feel it is just easier to use arm9select.

I wonder... since AuReiNAND updates so frequently these days and since all the files work on all variants of the 3DS now if it would be possible to make an updater. I was taking a look at the code for @ihaveamac's mashers-gl-updater and I was thinking that it might be possible to modify it to download the newest version from Aurora's Git, granted it knows what version to download I guess. It would also be pretty fool proof to update using an updater since AuReiNAND now checks for previously patched firmware files, right? So no one would have to worry about deleting stuff or anything. Something like this is probably beyond my scope, but it would be pretty neat if a simple updater for AuReiNAND existed in the future, especially since Aurora is on fire with these updates right now!

But that aside, downloaded and installed 3.12 on both my N3DSXL and O3DS and everything is running smooth as butter! I mentioned it before, but the config menu implementation is just so damned cool to me. The possibilities through that menu could be so rad in the future as the CFW changes over time. Also, it's hella neat that all the patches are now integrated into the main arm9loaderhax.bin! Now anyone should be able to install it with no problem at all. That's just so damned cool to me man...
