Ok im trying to swap my sysnand and emunand around, im following this guide....

https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-swap-sysnand-and-emunand-arm9loaderhax-only.415724/

im at Stage 2, Step 8...

"Launch hax and run CFW to get into emunand"

i have place the ReiNand.3dsx file in the root of my sd card but when i load the broswer hax via the QR code, the lower screen flashes different colours but freezes on a solid red lower screen, any ideas?

Are you certain you have the right QR code for the system menu version you're trying to run it in? That indicates a serious problem booting...also make sure you have Ninjhax's boot.3dsx on the SD card.

I think that also don't place the file called "firmware90.bin" into the "rei" folder should work to avoid the launch of the sysNand.
True this, if you really really never want to launch it. But if you sometimes need to get there (to install GBA VC titles or whatever), then you probably want to only make it really annoying to boot to sysNAND, not completely make it impossible ;)

OFC ;) but without that file you can be sure that your cousin/brother/sister/dad/mom/Jesus will not mess with your sysNand EVER. :mthr:

Do i need to hold down L or R on boot up in order to load the CFW to get into emuNAND?

As as per the guide i have set my theme to red, but if i hold L button on boot it boots up but the theme is blue but im still on FW 9.0??

If you're in updatedSysNand mode, then (from the website)

"Updated SysNAND mode: nothing boots SysNAND with 9.6-10.4 FIRM, L boots EmuNAND with 9.0 FIRM, R boots EmuNAND with 9.6-10.4 FIRM."

Otherwise you press nothing to boot emuNAND.

Well i havent even got to Stage 3 in the guide yet which invloved 'Updated Sysnand mode', so im not sure that will help

Having trouble with sliderhax? Just try again and again. If you keep hanging on one screen when pressing one edge of the slider, try the other edge.

No im not using sliderhax, as i have a n3ds system. Im on step 8 of the guide....

  1. From sysnand, launch hax and run MiniPasta
  2. When back at sysnand, launch hax and run EmuNAND9
  3. Choose “EmuNAND Manager Options” and then choose “Clone SysNAND to EmuNAND”
  4. Once this is complete, press START to reboot
  5. From sysnand, launch hax and run TinyFormat to format SysNand and unlink NANDs
  6. Once the system reboots, complete the initial setup without linking NNID
  7. Once you are at the home menu, set your sysnand theme to red
  8. Launch hax and run CFW to get into emunand
I can load up the CFW to get into emunand, if i loading into the Homebrew Launcher and load ReiNand (Reinand.3dsx) it just flashes the screen a few times and freezes on a red screen

Guys, question:

I saw a comment somewhere on the thread (can't find it now), basically saying that a "vanilla sysnand" is no longer vanilla as the firm is messed up after using Aureinand. That doesn't seem to be true, does it? Aren't Firm files loaded from SD with every boot? The one in NAND is untouched isn't it?

From what I know, A9LH corrupts FIRM0, so the 3DS then uses FIRM1 which is where A9LH is installed, it then boots the 3DS with the payload on your SD card.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

FIRM0 is turned into a mess in order for A9LH to work, so the system is officially modified once you do A9LH.
There's some work going on to put a basic firmware and launcher into NAND so A9LH can do something without an SD card, but it'd still be running through non-normal means.

Thanks for answers guys. So, one more follow up (kinda) question if I may:
restoring a sysnand back up from before A9LH was ever installed, basically "fixes" everything.. including the corrupted firm0, correct?
In this case, would the opposite be true as well? As in, create a sysnand back up now (with A9LH) then if for whatever reason I restore the "clean one", I can always return to A9LH using the new back up (and thus avoid the risk of the reinstalling A9LH again since nand restore is more or less safe?)

Yeah, restoring a NAND backup pre-A9LH essentially removes A9LH from your system.

As for your 2nd half of the question, I assume yes, you'll get A9LH back, but you're probably better off just using the installer.

Better off in what sense? Just because it's faster? From what I understand the 3dsx is not entirely reliable, unlike a nand restore at this point
