Here's some nice news for action RPG and Lufia fans. The DS remake of the original SNES classic Lufia 2 is coming to the US. Natsume will be localizing it as Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals. It is known as Estpolis in Japan. The DS remake, or rather reboot, is very unlike the original game. It shares the same characters and music, as well as some plot points. But it is for all intents and purposes more of a reboot. It also happens to be an action RPG rather than the turn based RPG system in the original. It's also confusing because this is a remake of Lufia 2, which is actually the prequel to the original Fortress of Doom. It's the one with Maxim and Selen (AKA Selena).

Anyways, great news! It's quite a fun action RPG if you go into it with an open mind and don't attack it for being so different from the original game. This was confirmed by Natsume themselves from their own Twitter. There's no date yet, but i would imagine they'll be showing it off come this E3 in June. At any rate, it's good to hear developers aren't going to abandon the US DS market and you can check this off as another DS game being localized in the US! In the meantime, the Japanese version titled Estpolis is already out if you want to give it a go. [IMG]

This is great, I really wanted to play the Japanese release but never did because of the language barrier, can not wait to hear more about it and its release date.

Knowing Natsume, this might get a poor/glitchy translation (All of their published Lufia titles did) and'll probably be delayed a few times before it's actually released. Anyway, it's good to know that I'll at least be able to read the story. Although I haven't beaten the Japanese version yet, it was really fun and easy to play without any knowledge of the language.

I don't know anything about this, but you know the last lufia game to be translated officially was about eight years ago?

In order to go mad, lose any sense of imagination, and quickly deteriorate our bodies, dropping our life expectancy dramatically?

Now that's what I call awesomeness! Lufia 2 is my favourite DS game of all time! I didn't think they'd release this one stateside as it will most likely not be a bestseller, but apparently they did it anyway! Yay Natsume [IMG]
