I don't have one because there are not enough of good games lately. I prefer to wait for 3rd party to have better games in 2 years from now. No hurrying for me and I am glad to have money for my own life to spend and to have fun. No hurry!

It really depends on the person's eyes. People's eyes are not really accustomed to the 3DS, while there are people that can handle it. The majority of people though seem to want to leave the 3D off.

I used to have it turned off most of the time because of the battery, but since I got my Power Pak+ it's on most of the time (and holding the 3DS is a lot more comfortable now)
Still, 3D is just a gimmick you forget about pretty soon when you're playing. It's not really worth the battery drain when you're not near an outlet.

I always leave mine turned off, no use draining battery life when it can still play games without the gimmick.

Depends on where I am. If I'm playing on the train and there's bright sunlight I have to have it turned off. If I'm playing Pilot Wings it can sometimes get a bit much. SSFIV in normal light, I can have it on full all day.

For me i get about 4 hours of 3D juice when turning power saving on and at brightness 2 or 3. I haven't really tried during off the 3D all together, cuz to me when I turn to 2D the game really changes (like when playing SSFIV a sudden change from 3D to 2D is really odd).

I turn it off a lot.

For instance, during the day, the reflections on the shiny surface of the top screen distract my eyes and the 3D effect is lost.

Also, in games where there's lots of button mashing (e.g. Street Fighter), I tend to loose the sweet spot because of my movement.

I think the 3D effect would work the best for slowly-paced games: visual novels, point and click, logical (e.g. Picross), jRPG, turn-based etc. Not really for games where there are thousands of enemies attacking you at the same time, bullets flying etc.

PS. Did anyone really measured the power consumption with 3D on vs. off ? Normally, there should be no difference unless there's a need for doubling the backlight brightness due to the parallax barrier blocking half the light from passing through...

1. I notice that too. However I hardly play it outside so it doesn't really matter.

2. Well, for me, the 3D is still solid even tons of button mashing!

3. I can't say anything. Didn't measure. However it is said that it's because of the backlight which causes the 3DS in 3D mode to be a power-sapper.

I seldom use the 3D. SSFIV=off. Nintendogs+Cats=off. Pilotwings=semi 3D???. Always max brightness, max volume. Wireless always on. I "always" play SSFIV so "always" the 3D effect is turned off.

Hmm... I turn on the 3D in front of my classmates who were sony fans (not pure fanboys).

They were amazed and said they wanted one! LOL

i only have two games, SSF4 and Pilotwings. on SSF4 i mostly leave it off. on Pilotwings i turn it on when i am taking pictures with the hang glider or when i am in first person mode in the aircraft. otherwise, the person being right at the middle messes with my eyes and i cant see all of the screen all too good.
