Lord of the Rings or Star Wars? Which do you prefer?

Lord of the rings as in the movies, not the books.

I am old enough to have watched ALL of them in the theater by the way.

Star Wars was a big hit when it came out, I won't pretend it wasn't.

But Lord of the Rings is a level of magnificence that is just incredible.

I could watch either repeatedly though.

I would prefer Lord of the rings because im a sucker for good ol' war movies (with sword fight and ballistas, not the ones with guns). I love how they make strategies and things like that. Starwars on the other hand is just shooting lasers, pow one shot kill.

I'm with Panzer but I would give a slight edge to Star Wars because that's what I grew up with. LoTR is a little too long and slow in some parts for me to just get into spontaneously - even through the SW prequels are pretty bad they do have some good moments.

I like both series. But I voted star wars because If when watched all the movies in one go (which I have done about 2 years ago), LOTR gave me a horrid headache after a while, and Star Wars did not. Even though no headache is as bad as after watching the new King Kong in theaters.

I personally enjoy watching any Star Wars movie over any LoTR. LoTR has some awesome battles but it's really long for my taste I guess.
