So, as a wannabe amatuer comedy writer, a thought came to mind.... What if I were to dump all the dialogue from Resident Evil:DS and re-record it with humorous rewrites? I had heard something about dumping language tracks from Lunar Knights and swapping them, but is it possible to replace them with custom dialogue?

Any answers, praise, or shoot-downs are appreciated.

Most voice samples (SWAR on the internal file systems) are ima-ADPCM (I can almost be certain your windows PC since windows 95 has this installed, you may have to experiment to find the actual values used (samplerate and the like)), the headers for these files may prove to be of some difficulty (each sound file has it's own header and these files are put into one massive file with it's own header which is then put into the DS rom).

Inserting new files is not for the feint of heart but it can be done, have a read of this thread for probably what you need on the file system (as well as others in this section):

and have a read of the GBAtek document (there was another one I believe this doc references that also had some detail):

Oh and have a read of this site, it is in Japanese for the most part but there is some really good data:

GBADev thread, very outdated but it may hold some stuff:

I am sure you would post back but if you can get this going I would be seriously interested in it.

The midi style sound files are pretty easy to dump so as to play back on a PC (the wave files and some sound effects are not so easy to play with), have a read of this thread:

Some emulators are pretty good these days so you may also be able to loop back sounds.
