What is the best, or rather, a good mod chip to buy for the Nintendo Wii, and do I need to have a Wii with old firmware or will any firmware do? I looked at the DriveKey and WODE. They both seem to be pretty good. Any advice/help would be appreciated.

You would definitely want to get the WODE. It has hard drive loading, disc backup support, and is updatable. AFAIK, it works with all games so far.

Or you could just softmod.

Ah okay, i did the soft mod. Now, I read the guides and such and I currently have the Soft Chip Loader and Neogamma Loader on my SD card. Do I need certain cIOS to play certain games?

Also, what do I need or what is better compatible with Beyblade Metal Fusion: Battle Fortress?

Well if your wanting to play both wii and gc backups id suggest getting a wode. save all your money from buying discs and get a hdd for it works so much smoother.

Does Hermes cIOS have more then one version?

Ive been out of the loop for the last 6 months so this link would explain it better than I can

Okay, I'm about to install using the Hermes ISO Installer 5.1 but it says to do it on the IOS that has the Trucha Bug or Dev/Rev or something. What does that mean? Is there a guide for what cIOS i need to play Wii ISOs? I'm really confused Here.

ah okay, i have everything set up thanks to ModMii.
And Dios Mios is the best thing for a GC Loader?
It's the only option for GameCube USB loading for soft-mod users. However, it was only recently released and it is incredibly unstable as far as I know, so it definitely has a long way to go. The best way to run GameCube backups is using Neogamma R9 Beta and playing via burned DVD-R games, but not all Wii consoles are capable of doing that (D3-2 drives on newer consoles).

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
