I'm trying to find some rap music that isn't about drugs and violence. It needs to have some sort of instrumental background music (piano, violin, etc.). It can be foreign. I know nothing about rap artists so yeah... I would really appreciate anyones help.
    -Thanks

    Talib Kwali,
also it seems Russle Simmons is trying to eliminate cursive and abusive language in rap.

I'd say to have a look into KRS-One, he's incredibly self-righteous, but he's the only rapper I can think of that I have never once heard glorifying drugs or violence. Oh, and if you're looking into Talib Kweli, make sure you look for Kweli and not Kwali.

Hypothetical : "I'm trying to find some metal that isn't about death and screaming"
"What's the point LOL. Good thing I do not listen to Metal. Rap FTW."

We can all be stupid, but it's just unnecessary.

How hard rap are you looking for. One of my favorites is a Japanese rapper m-Flo. His lyrics are pretty clean but he has a bit of a pop sound in his rap.

Another good option is some of the more recent reggae. It is influenced a fair bit by rap, and from my experience, it's much tamer in the language-and-theme department. Damian Marley is a good example (and he comes from a very musically talented bloodline).

Edit: Just saw your forum name. I take it you probably have already heard of him. [IMG] The reggae suggestion is still valid though.

No, reggae is a genre of music usually originating from Jamaica. As I edited into my post above, Damian Marley is a good artist to start with.
