Hi everyone i am in the market for a new set of speakers for my P.C. As such i am curious as to what you guys use. My budget is approximately 100 dollars, the set can be either 2.1 or 5.1. I was looking at the Creative Inspire T6160 and Logitech z506 sets.

Just curious as to if one is better than the other also if there are any others that i have missed that you can recommend.

Creative and Logitech are both good.

I personally had more success with Creative.

The sound is more "alive" with a Creative set.
You'll have to have a dedicated soundcard for it ofcourse.

Or you could just hook up some Rockford Fosgates to your pc.

Just don't go with Senheiser, they're not that great, but to each his own. I got an $80 system and it sounds just fine.

Sennheiser?
You serious?

I've had one pair of headphones from Sennheiser once, they sounded metallic and extremely flat.
Might just be the headphones themselves but meh, I heard it from a lot of people that Sennheiser is rubbish.

Hi everyone i am back sorry i wasn't really paying a lot of attention to this topic.

As of right now i have the Creative Labs T3130 set of speakers link below.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002DWQU48/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I was looking at the Creative Inspire T6160 or the Creative Inspire T6300. The T6300 is basically a upgraded version of the T6160. Links below.

T6300

Also i had my eye on the Logitech Surround Sound Speakers Z506. Both of the sets of speakers as of right now are under 70.

The creative set is basically my 2.1 set but with more speakers. The creative i have now is a really nice set i got them for 40 when they were on sale. I am just looking to upgrade to a 5.1 set and was looking for some recommendations.

I recently picked up a Logitech Z623 for like $90 on eBay, best speakers I've ever owned. Very powerful and clear bass, as well as mids and highs. Easier to distinguish between different instruments in music now, in some ways these sound better than my headphones. Doesn't peak or crack when hooked up to my drums, turned up loud enough to rattle the walls. I recommend these.

I have ones that look just like it (the Z523), and they pack quite a punch. Best $80 speakers I ever had.

If you don't have a good speaker placement already in place, I'd go with the 2.1s. Creative has great speakers for the price range and have a good sound in general.

Personally don't use my computer that much for gaming/movies when I'm at my desk, but in the living room I've got 2 Genelec 8030As and a 7050B hooked up to my tv. Best speakers I've used, but then again, they did cost me an arm and a leg (around 2200€ was the final prices for everything including cables, the NuForce Icon HDP, etc).

I do have an older Creative speaker set (5.1), but currently it's not hooked up due to limited space. Sennheiser or AKG would be my choice in headphones, but as always, it depends on your personal use.

@Dinoh: Some headphones and speakers can be very unforgiving if the original source isn't of good quality. I've noticed that on my Genelecs and some other speakers/headphones. The largest difference will be in the just from a few $$ to about 50-100 $$. The difference on the more expensive ones will be more about personal preference and optimization :P
