Is this a new cart design or have they always looked like this?

Mine looks nothing like that. Could it be a 3-in-1 clone maybe?

This is the 3-in-1 PHAT version of the card not the LITE version

They changed the shell when they released the EZ-V+. The DS cart has bare pins as well. The EZ-Team rep that visits the unofficial EZ-Flash forums said they did it to get around one of Nintendo's patents.

That kind of sucks, I'm glad I got mine before they changed the shell. I really don't like the look of it. Fair enough about the need to work around the big Ns patent but it looks shabby.

Yeah, it does but I plan on swapping it out into my Official Rumble Pak cart and making my own label for it. I want to make it look like those old Tengen games for NES, I figure it would be a fun project. I already have the Rumble Pak gutted but still have to cut some of the plastic out and do some light sanding so the 3 in 1 chip will fit.

Are there any templates online for the label size or should I just wing it?\

Oh, if someone wants to throw the new image on the Wiki, feel free.

That sucks. I was just about to purchase one (already have the Lite version) specifically to use with my DS Phat. Now I'm not so sure.. [IMG]

Does anyone know if they uglified the Lite version too? Wouldn't Nintendo have both cart designs patented?

Just Curious. Where did you purchase this cart? Hopefully there are some sites still selling old stock?

I got it from Gameyeeeah. I'm used to how goofy looking it is now. I was going to swap it into a GBA cart but I think the circuit board is just a little too big for that and I'm losing interest in the idea of fucking with it. I also don't have a donor cart that I want to use.

If you're getting it for your DS Phat it shouldn't be a problem as you'll rarely want to take it out. It's THAT awesome.

I'm actually starting to like how scary looking it is.

And I have a ton of GBA carts that I plan on switching back and forth with my DS. Good thing I invested in a ton of protective cases as well.

And by the way, I'm not interested.

Did GBAlpha not start this kind of thing with the M3 Real Expansion Carts?

I think they started it with the G6 Real, then continued doing it with every cart they released since then.

Wow, that's really strange. But that doesn't really matter if you keep it in the slot all the time.
