Hacking Long/Short filename display

Does anyone know why would the M3 display a short filename instead of a long filename during the Auto-backup process? Before, whenever it was autobacking up my saves, it used to display something like "0036 - Band Brothers.dat AUTOBACKING DO NOT POWER OFF ....blabla". Recently, instead of displaying "0036 - Band Brothers.dat", it displays "0036~2A.dat" or something similar. Does anyone have an idea why it does that?

(I dunno if these events have any correlations but this shortnaming-phenomenon started after I tried backing up a save file using REIN v17 and pressing SELECT while in M3 menu to manually back up a save.)

usually happens to me when I copy files and games from one sd card to another, but if you wrote the game onto that flash media you're using, then the name will stay long...I believe it has something to do with my fat16 format and windows transferring the file names.
