Android and iOS are full of Homebrew. Those projects that transition from design to conception by a small group of developers are the kind that always appeal to me. Lone Tank is one such game. Designed and coded over the past year by Spencer Johnson, this game is the very definition of Homebrew. The developer picked up writing code as an exercise for making great games, was entirely self taught, and has just released his first project. I've had the pleasure of following the development of Lone Tank over the past 6 months and am extremely happy to finally see its release.

The game borrows from a simpler time in gaming, when enemies charged us and it was our responsibility to clear out waves of them while working towards boss-battles and inevitably the final round. Incorporating various hop-ups, item gathering, and obstacles, this game offers a fun pick-up-and-play experience across ever-increasingly challenging levels. The game provides just enough to positively challenge you, while always pulling you back in for more.

This final release of the game includes 100 waves of enemies across 5 levels of difficulty. Unique boss battles and enemies with varying attack abilities will keep you thinking a few steps ahead. Gamers can make use of more than 10 power-ups, adding abilities such as speed, lasers, and shields.

If pick-up-and-play gaming appeals to you, and you are a gamer who likes a challenge, consider grabbing this gem. It was released today to the Google Play Store for $0.99 and the Amazon App Store for $1.00.
