...but it does little to ease the confusion of someone with no idea how r4 works and how exactly to identify which set of firmwares, among the myriad of different versions, will work on what they have.
so here's my suggestion.
all those topic starters of r4 firmware lists/indexes, why not include a list of the files you'd expect to find for this certain version's firmware? or better yet, maybe a screenshot.
this way, people like me would just take a look at the list and compare the files and directories on our cards against those listed. if we see something with similarly named files and directories, it's a good bet that that particular firmware will work on our cards. it's just an assumption, but it's certainly feasible.
this way, people who are searching are spared the ordeal of downloading different versions with no apparent improvement. of course, it doesn't have to be for everything, even just the official firmwares should do.
it's just a pain trying to find which is which when it comes to r4.
