Okay, I can't seem to get the mset and the nvram exploits to work (which I really want to work because I spent a week without access to the GW menu because I couldn't find my copy of OoT). Here's my log so far:
Got the launcher and the .cia files copied over to the n3ds SD and launched GW menu, proceeded to backup my sysnand and installed the nvram exploit. Went into emunand to run big blue menu which gave me an error that the files were not kosher.
Re-downloaded the zip file, grabbed devmenu. Went into emunand and used devmenu to install the .cia files. Tested the DS profile exploit. Did not work.
Decided that it might be a good idea to try booting into gateway mode for sysnand and used devmenu to install the .cia files. Tested the DS profile exploit. Did not work.
I was under the impression that I just had to follow the instructions which came with the update but so far, nothing has worked. Am I missing something or doing anything wrong?
I decided to attempt the whole cycle of nvram installation, going into sysnand in gateway mode and using devmenu to install the .cia files and apparently that worked. It's kind of odd.
It's strange that it didn't work the first time you installed the .cia files into sysNand, did the NVRAM profile get cleared somehow between its initial install and the .cia install?
Installing it into emuNand was definitely not the way to go, though. The point of the .cia files is to alter sysNand, since when you start up the system, you're in sysNand and need to get to the launcher. mset.cia reopens the hole that the NVRAM profile takes advantage of, so both have to be installed for the exploit to work properly. The NVRAM profile can be lost (or at least changed in such a way that it doesn't run the launcher) through various actions (generally running any DS software or DSiWare title, anything that runs in DS mode), and must be reinstalled each time that happens, through either the Gateway launcher or through GW_INSTALLER.nds.
If you haven't already, I would recommend restoring your emuNand's System Settings, by either restoring from a backup or by downloading and installing the proper System Settings app, so you can access the settings for things like Super Stable 3D again. There's no advantage of having mset.cia installed in emuNand.
I'm glad that you seem to have it working, I hope it continues to work for you.
