Say I deleted a CIA from my SD card to make room for a new game, then I wanted it back. How would I go about recovering my save if all I have is the backup the Gateway made on the root of my SD card?
What kind of backup are you talking about? One dumped from the gateway menu? Gateway doesn't make backups of cia saves. We need more information on the specifics to be any help.Say I deleted a CIA from my SD card to make room for a new game, then I wanted it back. Sorry, I was kinda clueless myself. Its not mine I'm trying to fix...
Apparently, here's what happened. Two CIA installed games that had a lot of progress in them were deleted from the SD card to make room for a new game. When the new game was too big for this person's SD card, they wanted the original games back. The problem arose when they found out that their saves were not there after reinstalling the games again.
A backup was not made of the save ahead of time. The only thing I had to go by was the SAV files on the main SD card matching the CIA installed games that were played. I'd like to know if these SAV files can be recovered to their respectful CIA games, or if these SAV files hold the information I'm looking for in the first place.
Thanks in advance.
Even I am interested in this. Do save files get deleted too if you delete the .cia file? Will the same save file "reappear" if the exact same .cia file is reinstalled in the system?
I am not an expert on cia saves. Probably best to make a post about it on the main section. The .sav files are from the card 1 games installed on the gateway mSD. I beleive cia files have a .sav as well but does not contain the full save. A program called savedatafiler is needed to access the cia save files.I attempted this, and the save did not show up. That is why I am asking the questions I am.

Good luck on your quest.
I'm not DYING to play anything on my 3DS right now, just because of time restraints and things... but do you guys think I should hold off on buying any product right now? Ultimately, I would love to see a flash cart that works a little more seamlessly, like a full CFW or another method that doesn't require physical cart swapping or booting from OoT/CN. Any thoughts or opinions on if this will ever happen, and how long? I know no one has a true crystal ball, just wondering what your guys' thoughts were...
Prices seem to be coming back down on CN. $40 new right now on Amazon and with some searching you can probably find it used for less online. The problem with waiting to long is when the next big thing hits that uses it the prices will spike rapidly.I just got a Gateway and am slowly learning more and more about it. My main goal was to have all 30+ of my 3DS games installed as CIAs on my home screen. Question is, is it possible to take the saves off my retail carts and inject them into the CIA files after they're installed? I read around GBAtemp and saw a plugin available for NTR-CFW that seems to do the trick, but there isn't a copy of Cubic Ninja available in my state at all.
There is a slim chance the DStwo + is real and could be released in the coming months but it could just end up being a clone there is just not any solid information. If you are not going to use the 3ds you could hold off on the gateway and start searching for a good price on CN, it has more uses than OOT.I'm not DYING to play anything on my 3DS right now, just because of time restraints and things... but do you guys think I should hold off on buying any product right now? I have never heard it not be able to. You install the updates via cia.Can Pokemon ORAS go online even without 9.6? (Am on 9.5) and can i update the game on 9.5?

That is correct. You are own your own to find ISO files for a 3DS using Google.via CIA? Assuming its Illigal to link here, are it just some patch cia's that you launch via BBM?
That is a complicated question and involves many variables. Are these legit purchased games or "other"? How many?So I'm upgrading from a o3DS to a N3DS and I'm wondering what saves will transfer over. Will my MH4U cia save transfer and what about my .3ds saves?
