Lighten/ Dye hiar with lemon juice

i was wonderingg
if anyone has ever tried lightening their hair with lemon juice
i heard it makes your hair 3 shades lighter,
im not sure of the effects of it on black hair
but i really want brown/reddish hair
but my mom wont let me get it chemically dyed
so i just did the lemon juice thing
i dont know what color to expect though,
if it doesnt work im gonna henna my hair

anyone have experience with that too?

oh it really does work,
better on blondes/ redheads,
makes their hair lighter

your supposed to put in about 3 lemons worth of juice in your hair
and sit in the sun for 1-2 hours
and when you wash and dry it its supposed to be lighter

i dont know how it turns out on black hair, though

I'm really not sure about that. Even if it's true, it doesn't really sound safe and healthy for the hair. Lemon has Citric acid and this might really damage the hair. Although I'm not sure, I'm just assuming that. If it's completely safe and true, hell, even I might try it. My hair is dirty blonde and I don't mind having a full blonde hair !!

Test it on your ends first.. if it doesn't suit you, just trim them off.

I'm sure bleach is much more damaging to hair than citric acid...but I'm not sure either. Any professionals want to clear this up?

Citric Acid damaging hair?

Isn't it just hair?

My aunt used dunked her hair in a pool of lemon juice...

She has black hair and it turned reddish/orange.

Why won't your mom let you use chemicals?

I was a punk rocker in high school so I know a lot about hair dye. You can buy a lot of bleaches specially made for hair that are full of moisturizers and have fairly mild chemicals and will leave your hair just as silky smooth as before you bleached it. It's gotta be a lot better for your hair and scalp than lemon juice. PM me if you need any specific advice. I've dyed girlfriend's and my hair most any color you can think of.
