    I bought a Lg p500h android earlier this week for work.

    I don't like the apps that were pre-installed on the droid and want to delete them. after googling i found out i need to root the phone to delete the apps.

    has anyone rooted a lgp500h? any thoughts, tips or guidance would be appreciated!

    I found this tutorial
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200167
    I'm about to follow the instructions on the site, before taking the lead; I thought it'd be best to ask for assistance before hacking my new phone.

    Questions are;
    -is the link a good guide for rooting my phone?
    -does rooting a phone enable free gps?
    -must I do anything else after rooting my phone?
    =what are other benefits to rooting a phone?

    Actually delete the apps using Titanium Backup or something similar (or you could use Root explorer and manually delete them).

    I don't think gps is free. I checked my data usage today and i was billed data usage for using gps and made a skype call.

    Of course I am.

    GPS is free, mobile data is what costs you. For that you might want to use a data plan, use offline maps (Google Maps, Y U NO GIVE FULL OFFLINE), or ration data usage.

    if you like the stock rom but just want the apps gone you could use absolute system root tools i use it all the time to remove apps. :P

    Titanium Backup also does that job very well.

    I used Titanium, but I wanted to remove the telus image from my phone and have it run faster to play angrey birds. i took the risk and am now using aga-rom v2.1 gb 2.3.3.

    so far I can still send mms, use wifi, fm radio, gps and it came with some new themes.
