Let's Guess: Switch 2 launch price and offering

Switch 2 mockup with question marks

With a Switch 2 reveal hopefully on the horizon, the question is how much will Nintendo ask for the base model at launch and what will their launch offerings be?

Analysts have previously predicted that the Switch 2 will be somewhat of an iterative upgrade, which would be unlike Nintendo's past strategies that famously involved a radical new approach such as the dual screen Nintendo DS, Wii with its motion controls as well as the dual screen Wii U to name just a few. But if we know Nintendo then we're sure there will be a curve ball somewhere in the mix!

While an initial price of $400 USD was also previously estimated, the recent surge in component prices as well as the general cost of living; could we perhaps be looking at at $450-500 USD handheld from Nintendo?

Also, what of the launch titles and offerings? How will Nintendo sell and promote the Switch 2? What games will be available at launch? Will we see a new Mario title ready for launch or perhaps Metroid Prime 4 with Switch 2 enhancements? These are all questions that we're eager to know the answer to.

To take a look back; the Switch released back in March of 2017 at a suggested MSRP $299.99 in the United States, £279.99 in the United Kingdom, and $469.95 in Australia with similar regional pricing across EU regions. It launched alongside the critically acclaimed TLOZ: BOTW as well as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe a month later with other heavy hitters such as Super Mario Odyssey coming later that same year. It was a hugely successful launch but was plagued with supply issues, scalpers following the huge demand. The success of the Switch helped bounce Nintendo back to fame after the poorly received Wii U.

Nintendo Swap, Focus, or Click. 450 or 500$ date it's revealed, late 2025 or VERY EARLY 2025, Super Mario 3D Universe, Super Mario Odyssey HD, 2-3 Swap, Focus, or Click. Stick drift is less frequent/less common/RARE, the joycons grip onto the consoles more efficiently and stops it from just sliding off once hard contact with something, USB Port for dock haters (Handheld Capture Card Support) 1080P, 60-72FPS, The dock is softer, and doesn't scratch the screen, and Mario Kart has a new state, city, or area option in online.
Post automatically merged:

Switch Duo is due in Spring of '25 will carry a price tag of $350. Pikmin and Mario titles will trail by a year, as console is backwards comp. External power supply, detachable touch display (primary display not touch)
same as switch oled?

Well. Why not give it a try?

Name: Switch M (the logo is gonna be a greyish rounded M with red and blue ends, basically resembling an M-shaped magnet). The name is a wordplay on "Switch 'em".

MSRP: $379 in the US (before tax), €429 in the EU (incl. tax) and ¥42.980 (incl. tax)

Release date: May 22, 2025.

Launch titles: Pokémon Legends Z-A (not Switch 2 exclusive), a new Kirby of yet unknown title, EA Sports FC 25 (because, of course it will be there day one) and whatever the current CoD game is. Oh, and how could I forget to mention the tech demo / party game that introduces the new gimmick of the console. Since "Everybody, 1-2-Switch" wasn't a great success, I guess the name 2-3-Switch is out of the question. Anyway, I'll take the gamble and say that's gonna be its name.

New gimmick: Magnets inside both the controllers and tablet the polarity and strength of which can be controlled by software in order to allow for another kind of haptic feedback. They can also be used to firmly attach the controllers to the Switch or each other, making an extra controller grip obsolete.

  • Name - Super Switch (i dunno it will probably be shit and called Switch Up! or something)
  • Launch price (base model) - $450
  • Release date - June 16th, 2025
  • Launch titles (launch window) - Metriod 4 is our day 1 launch title, kinda like BOTW where it's a crossgen title. There will be pretty crap games at day 1 too like Just Dance 2026. I wouldn't actually be surprised if we get a new ARMS game in the upcoming months after launch, something showing off the new controllers, if the whole magnetic joycon thing is true im sure it has other cool features. A new mario kart game will absolutely come out and of course, a new 3D Mario.
  • Any other predictions - Nintendo is usually crazy with innovation so I could only assume what could be in store. My big innovation guess is a kind of Wii U approach where the dock and not only hold the nintendo switch and play the switch by tv like usual, but if you take it out it will stream it too, some games could take advantage of the dock where you have two screens, like the Wii U but not forced. Nintendo has already played with stuff like that in the past with the Wii U and Mario Kart Live Circuit thing.

Watch me be right on every single thing I said ez dubs gimmie my payed patron ad blocker

Switch 2 £399
Analogue triggers
Magnetic joy-con
Improved haptic feedback
8 inch 1080p screen
Better battery life
Bigger storage with faster transfer rates
12gb of ram (lol)
Tegra T239
DLSS
Dock upscales to 4K (highly doubt native 4K lmao)
Dock has cooling capability to cater for higher clocking on the SoC
Backwards compatibility
Able to upscale Switch games and improve frame stability after devs patch them
Metroid Prime 4 launch title
I'd say some of the big PC/console games could release on Switch 2 (Diablo 4, Baldurs Gate, Elden Ring, Assassin's Creed, etc.)
Big mario game a couple months after launch
Pokemon Legends Z-A couple months post launch as a multiplatform but enhanced for Switch 2.
3D Donkey Kong that has been sat on the shelf for ages even though it is finished.
Xenoblade Chronicles X possibly multiplatform but enhanced on Switch 2.
Possibly Mario Kart 9 at launch if Nintendo are feeling frisky.

I'm rolling with:

NEW Nintendo Switch (The cases will have green spines. This will be another Luigi takeover.)
It's gonna be bigger so they can put a bigger battery in it
The bluetooth will either be amazing, or even worse than on the Switch
They're not gonna have a web browser, once again
Cubic Ninja will get ported, if not, in spirit.

Safely somewhere between 449 and 499, although with SONY's recent pricing I can see this new Nintendo console to be closer to the 499
