Okay, since everypony else is hasn't shared yet, I'll go first.

I moved to New York (about 2000 miles away from home) with only $500 and a plane ticket just to see if I could make it. I lasted a year and a half before I moved back home. Not sure if I'd count it as a failure, or not, though.
