Developed by TT Games, LEGO CITY Undercover: The Chase Begins is set two years before the events of LEGO CITY Undercover on Wii U, and charts the rise of Chase McCain as he gradually earns his revered status within the LEGO CITY Police Department (LCPD), headed up by Chief Gleeson and Deputy Dunby. Progressing from the humble beginnings of solving petty crimes to infiltrating the meanest gangs on the streets of LEGO CITY, Chase McCain soon encounters one gang headed up by a muscular crook who the rookie will come to know well throughout his career – Rex Fury!
As an emerging undercover investigator learning the art of disguise, Chase McCain will need to adopt a variety of disguises – including a fireman, a robber, a construction worker and a miner – in order to blend into his surroundings. With this in mind, and beginning the week after the launch of the game, Nintendo of Europe will be releasing unlock codes for extra Chase McCain costumes on its Nintendo 3DS Facebook and Twitter accounts, including a mime artist and a zombie, to ensure Chase can remain anonymous wherever he goes! In addition, within the game you have the chance to collect over 70 minifigures that are assigned to the different disguise categories, opening up the possibility to play as some of the more unusual characters of LEGO CITY.
As part of the post-launch offering, Nintendo of Europe will also be releasing on social media an unlock code for a very handy vehicle to call upon when criminals are making a hasty retreat. Once unlocked, vehicles are available at Vehicle Call-in Points located around LEGO CITY, but for Chase a set of wheels is never far away, with over 50 different vehicles available to commandeer. Pesky criminals are not even safe whilst airborne or at sea, as speedboats and helicopters will become available as the storyline unfolds.
For the launch of the recent LEGO CITY Undercover on Wii U, Nintendo of Europe launched a series of webisodes on its YouTube channels for fans to get acquainted with the key players in the plot to fight – and commit, in the case of Rex Fury and other villains – crime in LEGO CITY. With LEGO CITY Undercover: The Chase Begins acting as a prequel to this tale, Nintendo will be releasing another series of webisodes for all Nintendo 3DS owners to check out what lies in store in this earlier chapter of the LEGO CITY saga.
It’s time for Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL console owners to get a piece of LEGO CITY action when LEGO CITY Undercover: The Chase Begins launches across Europe on 26th April. Meanwhile, for all Wii U owners, don’t forget you can already do some investigative police work from the comfort of your sofa in LEGO CITY Undercover, out now and available as a standalone game or in a limited-edition software bundle with a Chase McCain minifigure.

Reminds me of Lego Island on PS1, or whatever it was called. I want this. I was BIG into Legos (Legoes?) as a kid.

I think 'Lego' is the plural and this does look really good, this is turning out to be a fantastic year for gaming.. unfortunately for my wallet..

Been Wikipedia-ing the developer, they don't really have any good titles from what I can tell, so I'm kinda worried that this will suck too

Did any one else notice the horrible frame-rate? Or is that because of youtube?

I have seen many 3DS gameplay videos for good games and they don't look that good.
But trust me, once you get one, turn on the 3D, the graphics are awesome. The 3DS.

For me it is LTA: Lego Theft Auto.

I'll buy it only after playing a demo, or playing it on a store. I have a lot of doubts about it

Looks like the best LEGO game yet.

That's not saying a lot, though

The thing that got me excited about it is that it's open-world and free-roam. Maybe they'll decide to do a proper free-roam LEGO LOTR game after this, maybe even something along the lines of LEGO Guardians of Middle Earth.

But LEGO Hobbit would severely limit the areas explorable, by virtue of the story basically never straying far.

Grand Theft Lego sounds better IMO. And it actually makes more sense.

    I don't think so,if yes, awesome.
If you look at the trailer, it gives a GTA look.
    Parachute, cars and stuff.
One question, can we steal cars and kill innocent people? :tpi:

It's LEGO. Of course we can kill innocent people.
although I'd call it "bloxxing" innocent people since you just reduce them to blocks and they can be rebuilt

    Ahaha, I expected that reply.
We need blood in this game, or at least blood blocks
