Lego Battles for the DS was announced a month or so ago, but now there are finally some screens, boxart and details to complement it. I'm not sure it's looking so good. I hope the gameplay far outclasses the graphics.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has just released details, box art, and new screenshots for the upcoming Summer DS game, LEGO® Battles!

Published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, developed by Hellbent Games and produced by TT Games, LEGO® Battles is based on three classic LEGO® toy themes - LEGO® Space, LEGO® Castle, and LEGO® Pirates - combining the trademark humor and endless customization of LEGO®.

Featuring six distinct storylines and 90 different levels, players can build their own LEGO bases and teams, mixing and matching units to create their own customized squad. Choosing from 55 playable characters, face off on land, sea or in the air, using 30 different vehicles.

Putting their squad to the test, players can also team up against their friends in the multiplayer mode, through the wireless DS multi-card play.

Coming Summer of 2009, prepare for battle - LEGO® Battles!

I REALLY hope the game is better than it looks. At the moment, this could have been done graphically on the gameboy color. Looks like Fisher Price brand of RTS. Oh well, we'll still have Robocalypse. *Waits to play the actual game*

Oh my, I thought, just by looking at the screens it was a 1990's lego's RTS and it was just a comparison or something.

    Gosh, those graphics are... horrific.

The toolbars, the text, they look really... outdated.

I really hope either the visuals will be updated/engine changed, or the gameplay and balancing better be perfect. It seems like this game isn't that attractive.

okay the graphics are complete SHIT I mean seriously i now that DS cant pull the best 3D graphics but the 2d games 9 out of 10 times have some of the best quality iv seen. and the this piece of shit (Looking) comes out of a cave and haunts it with its 6bit colour pallet. wow they got a lot of work 2 do.

Is Traveller's Tales working on this!?

Cause all the other LEGO games on the DS have some of the best 3D graphics the DS has.. and this looks like a Master System game..

Gameplay might be good.. can be a fun game.. but it's still very ugly!

Looks like a Homebrew game done in a few days.
Gameplay should be better than the graphics.

This is definitely not living up to what the LEGO name has become as far as gaming is concerned. It's just so... parasite-like, as if it's simply riding on the brand now (with rock hero, or whatever it's called, also being utilized, I wouldn't doubt it).

Hopefully it's just a difference development team.

It looks like the graphics designers only had paint to work with. It looks really bad so far. It could possibly improve but it has a lot to go.

Anyways.....Atleast we have KH DS to look forward to...
This Lego Battles definately not worth the bandwidth unless it gets in the 8/10+ from IGN for gameplay. If not it's goin in teh FailBin along with every imagine game available!

    And there goes my hopes...

When this was announced, I was thinking of an ultimate mashup of Lego brands in the style of Lego Star Wars/Indiana Jones/Batman...

    What a shame...

Wow. After pretty solid releases, this is what they come up with. Epic fail.

Graphics look bad even for a 2D game, look at the lack of detail on the maps, looks like something someone made in RPGmaker (and rushed it too)

Very rarely do game developers release screens and then make it different later on. Especially considering the game is coming out very soon and probably almost finished.

Well maybe after tons of criticizing from people, they will revamp everything (Orcs in Space, anyone?)

I really hope they do. I thought this would be an awesome game.
    Sorry, but it's so ugly.
