You said you wanted emulators, and kernel access is the best for that.
Yes I know, but you specifically advised that I should downgrade if I had interest in non-patched cia's.
I'll probably downgrade eventually, mainly for emulator performance like you said, but I'll stick to this for now :)

Don't want to repeat myself so...
sorry for the pressure you will encounter here (gbatemp) there point in telling you to downgrade now is that if you softbrick as i said previously you would need to update the 3ds to the latest fw version in order to recover . . . at the moment the latest firmware is downgrade-able (this may likely not remain true if nintendo releases a new update) so even though you may attempt to downgrade your 10.3 console whenever you want failing currently will let you try over and over until you get it right . . . and as we have no idea when the newest update will be released they dont want you to end up missing out on . . . what is likely your best opportunity to successfully downgrade your console

As you wish, but this is the best moment to do it.

Mmyeah I'm going to think about it, but as you may have noticed I am very scared of bricks, even though it's safer now than ever.
If I end up not doing it before they release a newer firmware, I'll have one shot at it, and if I mess up that then it might be over for a while.
Knowing myself I'm pretty certain I'll not do it now, then hating myself in the future for not taking the opportunity sooner..

But I'll definitely try to get myself to at least attempt it now :)

Thanks again

legit cias are only some games and most games legit cias are European so you will need gridlauncher non legit like cubic ninja.cia need cfw which is only for 9.2 so you would need to downgrade but if you have homebrew then you need safe sysupdater and the 9.2.0 zip file for U.S 3DS

Uhmm I think you may have misunderstood my question :P
I knew all of this already, I asked if there were any other major benefits to CFW, apart from the things you just said (and emu speed)

Could my 3ds get randomly bricked while installing CFW or would it only be by mistake?
They are kinda safe as now.
Creating emuNAND can't,in any case, brick your console 'cause you're operating on SD and not on NAND. The only brickable moments are when you downgrade...

If you wish to downgrade, start with RxTools until you get comfortable with it. Then you can try the hardest part:installing a9lh :P

Could you tell me, apart from non-legit CIA's and emulator speed, what other major benefits it would grant me?
Thanks in advance :)
cheats mainly (if you are into that sorta thing)
but to expand on the topic of unsigned .cias they can be many things
homebrew/3ds games/emulators/3dsware/dsiware/gba vc/gb(c) vc/sega vc/nes vc/snes vc (with nintendos "pixel perfect mode")/and custom injected vc games for all named vc systems
also a 9.2 console n3ds can jump in resale vale (on gbatemp at least) (if and when) nintendo blocks downgrading via updates

If you do end up downgrading I'd make sure to have a good sized SD card, since emuNAND will knock out two gb of space on your SD. Also I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned, but downgrading also lets you have custom themes. When I first downgraded my N3DS it basically went like "yesyesyesNONONOYESYESYES" because I thought I messed up in the middle, but actually managed through a mess-up & recovered all my stuff back, on an emunand!

No, it could not. You can only get a brick in the downgrade process, and in the latests versions the worst that happend was because of human error, not because of the program. Anyway, if you won't use in the future unsigned cia, don't do it. No more utilities but unsigned cia (homebrew as cia, ofc) will be in a CFW if you are not a developer. Now, you can trust the hombrew as cia is incredible.
