Gaming Legacy of Ys - Book I & II Help?

I just got Legacy of Ys Book I & II ten minutes ago and I started Book I, and now it's telling me I have to get to a dungeon in the mountains. Now, I've looked all over them plains, but I have NOT found a path to the mountains... All I've found is a cave I can't go in.

How do I get to the mountains?

Also, unrelated problem, but why is navigation so hard in Book I? It took me almost ten minutes to find the fortune teller! :\

I was hoping less spoilers.... :\ I tend to over read when I go on FAQs.

..And my problem's sorted itself out. Now I just need help on that boss guy. How does one expect to kill a boss that dies in sixty hits and you die in 4?

I wish I could help, but for some reason I can't remember a single thing about this game except I beat both parts.

I think I blocked out the memories.

Sorry about all the spoilers, I didn't have enough time to filter it.
I had trouble with that Boss too, all you have to do is grind five or six levels and he'll go down in no time.

I'm level 7 or 8 though.

And yes, I know I suck at the game. I died because I didn't know (even though I checked what the controls were) you were supposed to run into the enemy instead of stopping and touching the enemy with the stylus.. D:

I made the mistake only five minutes after I heard someone in a review on youtube say you had to run into enemies to attack them.

I'm used to the stuff being on the bottom screen already. :\
I'd like to use the buttons but the gameplay switches to the top screen if I change the control scheme to buttons.
