Street Trash. Super disgusting 80s body horror/comedy with incredible practical FX, the budget helped with that, but didn't help with everything else. Bad acting, bad dubbing, strange sound design, but all of that makes up a good chunk of the comedy. A fun time overall.

The Evil Dead - Much better than I remembered, fantastic horror movie with amazing gore and effects, haunting as fuck atmosphere.

Evil Dead 2 - Horror/comedy masterpiece

Army of Darkness - Not as good as the first two movies, but still a lot of fun.

Immaculate.
I see why people are rating Sydney Sweeney as a "scream queen", she plays the emotions of this weird nun horror pretty effectively. Good fun.

'Inglorious Basterds'
It's a film from 2009 about American Jews infiltrating nazi occupied France. Not to be confused with the 1978 film 'The Inglorious Bastards' which is also about Nazis.

The Wolf House - Stopmotion paper mache looking horror/drama movie. Visually stunning, very unique story as it's a combination of a fairy tale and propaganda. It's based on the story of the Colonia Dignidad.

I Saw The Devil - This movie got me so invested. It's like Memories of Murder meets Oldboy meets Batman! South Korea is crazy. I loved the movie so much, 10/10 would recommend.

Mr. crocket.
lower budget horror movie about a cursed vhs tape housing demon mr rogers who staels children. bad dialogue writing and incosistentency aside it's well worth a watch. mr crocket can be quite creepy in his mood swings.

Evil Dead (2013) - Unbelievably fantastic gore. I'm talking Terrifier levels of gore. And that's about it. One trick pony. If you don't like gore, don't bother watching it. Not a bad movie though.

Evil Dead Rise - Captures the spirit of the original movie better than the remake. More tasteful nods to the Raimi trilogy, and even nods to the remake. It's like Prey, it honors its predecessors while also being strong enough as a standalone movie. I liked this quite a bit.

Been bingeing some Halloween movies, starting the other day on, uh, Halloween.
This series has more timeline fuckery than The Legend of Zelda. So far I've gone this particular route
halloween-jlc-1.jpg

Partly for Jamie Lee Curtis, and partly because H20 is the only one that I actually saw in the cinema when it came out, back in the tail end of the previous millennium. I could tell I'd seen at least part of the original 1978 movie before too, idk if I fell asleep in front of the TV or what.

Anyway, my feelings from this viewing - the original number 1 is a pretty solid classic, earlyish slasher, banging soundtrack obviously, final girl putting on a good show. Number 2 followed on pretty well but JLC spent too much time lying/sitting around looking scared while others were taking part in the action. H20, big time jump, we'd all been told in great detail by the Scream movies (footage from Scream 2 shown in H20 fwiw) how the scary movie rules had changed by this point, and it was fun to see JLC take on the modernised final girl (final middle aged mom?) trope and kick some butt. Resurrection, bit of a waste of an important character and bit of a silly trash movie, whatever, I don't watch slasher movies for the intellectual stimulation I guess.

I might go back and hit up the rest of the retro '80s/'90s timeline next, or at least as much as I can take of it, before rejoining JLC for the most recent 3. I'll get to the Rob Zombie versions at some point.

Inside Llewyn Davis. Decent movie, but it's overrated. I see high scores for it all over the place, but I just couldn't connect with the main character or even the slushy look of the movie. Still has a good amount of classic Coens comedy. I wanted more of that. The folk music's nice.
