i mean what the hell are they thinking having catherine tate as the new companion anyway?
she was ok for a one off episode but not for an entire series.
billie piper worked with chris eccleston just as freema agyeman worked with david tennant but to bring tate in to replace freema as a permanent companion for the entire 4th series is just wrong.
on the plus side i'm pleased she's going to torchwood.

Well I guess they're thinking of improving the ratings and perhaps Tate will sell it worldwide, though the series did average 6 half-8 million and did million on BBC3 which was great seeing its summer. Also the BBC is making a ton of cash off it worldwide and it does very well on the channels its shown on.

I guess they got fed up of the whole "assistant in love with the Doctor" thing I went for someone who'll play off the Doctor a bit, someone who isn't in love and will question everything...still they've could've got someone else, I personally would've put Sally Sparrow from Blink episode in it.

i loved blink it was so eerie and yes i agree that sally sparrow was an excellent character too. i think you're right about the being in love with the doctor thing though. it was ok to have maybe the first assistant to be in love with him fair enough but to have 2 of them doe eyed over him was a bit hard to swallow (as well as jack lol).

My nephews scared of statues because of that episode! I personally didn't find it scary but its nice that kids can crap their pants over it.

I wouldn't mind an assistant who turned out to be a bit of a sod and went against the Doctor in the final episode. Sort of like the Turlough chap in the early 80's but less annoying.
