After two month of hard work, we are pleased to present the new Homebrew contest for the PSVita called KyuHEN!

What is KyûHEN?

KyûHEN is the next homebrew contest for PSVita featuring cash prizes for development under 4 categories:

- Game 1 : Homebrew game developed using unity sdk and gamemakersdk
- Game 2 : Homebrew game compiled with vitasdk/dolcesdk
- Utility : Homebrews and plugins
- Ports : Port of games from other platforms to the PSVita and emulators

Who are you?

We are currently 3 main organisators:
- Samilop "Cimmerian" Iter : Helper and creator of the troubleshooting guide. As well as beta tester in many vita related projects.
- 2Old4Gaming : Famous vita content youtube channel
- frangarcj : Retroarch vita maintainer as well as contributing to vita3K project


We also have the help of Wololo, PSX-Place and PlayStationHAX for organizing the contest, making the rules, Custom Protocol participation with their server we use to host the contest as well as the help of wirus (CTP admin) for the creation of the website. The website concept design has been made by Dave an ios tweak designer and lastly, windvern for the website background and logo and Daniel Gandelman for the splashcreen.


How long will it last? What are the rules? Prize share?

You can find more about the rules and the prize share in our website, the contest is set to start the 27 march and finish the 27 may. Submission windows will open the 10 april.
We are collecting money in order to increase the prize pool with our Kofi link. We aim to have a prize pool of at least 1200$ and it seems like it's doable. We started with 455$ and now are over 800$. Additionally to that we also have PSN game code to offer to participants.

Homebrew contests are great! I got excited when the contests would come around for the psp. There were a few nice games that came of it. I remember this burger game that you had to rush around the kitchen to fill orders in a timely fashion. Good luck to all the contestants!

Keen to try making a simcade racer (similar to Gran Turismo) or a basic Truck Simulator but I doubt I'll be done by the end of May. Excited to see what the community will produce though.

Please please give it a try, even if it's something super simple with only a single track for time trial, sim or arcade... PSVita needs more racing games ... I would love something like Outrun, POD, Road Rash, Death Rally, or any top down racer like those of Amiga era. (I also like Rally and Off Road simulators)
