A retail source close to GameStop has reported that the store will be allegedly recalling all their Wii U basic sets one week after E3. The news comes after a NeoGAF user received an email at work saying that all basic Wii U consoles are to be recalled, which leads us to ask whether Nintendo has finally dropped the ball on the 8gb hardware?
Kotaku’s source has revealed that all new and unopened Wii U basic packages are to be recalled on June 18. GameStop has been contacted for an official comment but have yet to respond. The official statement is as follows:
“Nintendo Wii U Basic Recall – Two Week Preparation On Tuesday, 6/18, all stores will need to return all new/unopened Wii U Basic (020359). .. Stores that have 10 or more in stock will receive shipping cartons from the [distribution center]. .. All other stores will need to save shipping cartons for this recall.”

I'm guessing they are doing what Sony did for the 3G Vita; withdraw the current sets and release a better set (In the Vita's case, replacing 3G with the Instant Game Collection bundle).

Recall? Yuck, don't like the sound of that.
Before you jump the gun, need I remind everyone Kotaku. We need to wait until someone better comes along and confirms this. Kotaku tends to leave out a lot of details and even just makes shit up for attention.

They are taking off the shelves the Basic White WiiU because they are putting on market the White 32gb model, so sellers or buyers won't get confused with the white normal and white 32gb model... and to make up for it, Nintendo will prolly drop the price of the 32gb model to be the same price of the basic model... it's simple marketing....

Sigh... Why is everyone always like "lol Kotaku isn't a real source!"

Seriously, they're not THAT bad... They have their blunders, but not particularly worse than any other gaming site I've seen.
They weren't bad. Back when Brian Crecente and McWhertor were working there (just the two that come to mind). They were pretty decent. But then those guys left to Polygon or something and instead the fucking retard who worked for MTV (Totillo) is now the boss, and the site has just gone down hill. Hell, the members on there bash Polygon now and every other site. The whole site is a joke. Patricia Hernandez is a fucking troll who finds the dumbest things to complain about and blows it out of proportion (THERE WAS NO WOMEN AT SONY PS4 CONFERENCE), or the Gay Joke in Blood Dragon.

Totillo insults the members.

The other members exclude information out of posts to make it seem worse than it is, and when called out about it, they say "We didn't know." They insulted Hideki Kamiya of Platinum Games saying he doesn't know about Windows or something like that, when he didn't say that. He said they eat shit, and then they were banning anyone talking about that incident.

The whole site is just one big joke. It's sad that they still get taken seriously. They're a bait site. Instead of actually reporting, they make shit up to get hits so they get paid. You'd be best off going to Joystiq.
