Precisely. Some people in Japan have already married some of their "virtual girlfriends"how can you _not_ understand it?I don't understand all the negativity toward this.
taking a game too far man

It's pretty pointless and sad to say the least, you could do the following and it would be less sad then paying for a "virtual" girlfriend....
1.Go to a random internet chat site and beg girls/fake girls to be your GF
2.Drooling over anime/manga girls
3.Waxing your carrot to pictures of random google pics, etc etc
I'm sure I could make up some more things less sad but I don't feel like it...
Anyone who is actually considering doing this is pathetic. There's a fine line between liking otaku-related stuff, and being a full on, isolated, weeaboo outcast with a virtual girlfriend. If you're that lonely and desperate to the point where you'll spend hundreds of dollars importing software/hardware, paying for subscriptions, etc., all to have a virtual anime girlfriend, something is wrong with you. Even if you live in Japan and have this easily available to you, that's just incredibly sad, and there IS something wrong with it.
It's not normal to be attracted to a virtual character in a video game, at least this extreme. Just like it's not normal to be attracted/obsessed to inanimate objects like some people.
You're butthurt because some people are doing something about their loneliness in an unorthodox but positive way.

Falling in love with a fictional character to the point where you would consider this service is no way, shape, or form positive.

When you figure in the fact that Japan has a high suicide rate and loneliness is one of the main causes I think this is positive, suicide in no way shape or form is positive and nobody deserves that fate.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If they want to marry a virtual girlfriend. That's fine with me.

I read this and all I see is arguments going back in forth about how this game is positive/negative. I see Konami going: "The game and services will sell like hotcakes!!!!".

There is no market for it here unfortunately.
