A fairly known, Korean-themed visual novel by Candian indiedev Christine Love, released back in 2012. It tells the story of an investigator, aka you, the player, tasked at finding an interstellar ship, which has just been found nearly 600 years later after its launch. You must find out what happened with the ship and the people on it, following a dark narrative of relationships, interactions with the ships AIs', trans-humanism, and typical visual novel weeb tropes, that imo go a bit differently in this game, but I can't tell what as it'll spoil the story

obviously the best vn is huniepop huehuehuehue
ahem, on topic, I don't think it's the best one ever made, the story could be shortened a bit and some of the side characters you read about don't really make much of an impact until the game's sequel, Hate Plus. as it is by itself, it's one of the best I've played so far and made me appreciate how different it is from other vn's

Interacting with the AIs, letting them hear their thoughts on what you're reading, being a l33t h@x0r, and cosplaying the AI Hyun-ae (gotta keep those visual novel tropes in there lol)

Not by a long shot. I consider it to be orders of magnitude worse than Christine Love's previous (and free) work Digital: A Love Story. In comparison, I found Analogue to be bland, boring, and its characters to be one-dimensional (and the sequel's even worse, in my view). I honestly would not recommend it; the novelty wears off quite quickly, at least for me. Play Digital instead, it's perhaps the most unique visual novel I've ever played.

one reason I havent even touched the sequel yet. the reason I only enjoyed this one was of Hyun-ae's story, Digital is way better, but I still enjoy the atmosphere of Analogue

I agree that the atmosphere (and the premise) is great, I just couldn't get into the characters. I feel as though Digital had a much more 'natural' depiction of AI, whereas Analogue's felt more forced and less AI-y, I guess.

tl;dr It's a Western Visual Novel where you investigate an interstellar ship by interacting with the ship's AIs.

Is it an alright VN to play if you're not really used to VN's yet?
Does it have an easy interface to go back to certain important decisions to try to shoot for a different ending instead of replaying the whole game?
How long would it take to beat once, very approximately? I mean, 20 minutes, a day, 10 hours...

I think it is, but the story is unnecessarily long and isnt for everyone, I just found the interactions with the AIs to be fun and learn about them and how they connect to the story. The ui is clean and simplistic and, like almost all vn's, has a place that keeps track of the endings you've unlocked, but as for trying to go back to important decisions, you'll have to determine yourself which ones are important, save and load from there. How you treat the AIs doesnt affect which ending you get, which imo is a missed opportunity. As for playtime, it depends on your reading speed, cuz there is A LOT to read. My first playthrough tooke me about two days, but after you beat everything that's it. I can see why this game has got a lot of flack but I dunno, I just really like the sci-fi and Korean settings here, which is why it's one of my fave VN's
