I'm running games just fine from SD-card via USB loader GX.
Wii disc games cannot be launched from SD with USB Loader GX. It doesn't have the code to support it.

Just wanted to share that I got it working without disabling return to channel featureIn Settings:
Exit To: Default
Return To Channel: Disabled
For me, it happened once you hopped onto the star that takes u to the first levelIn general at what point does it usually fail? I want to check this game before I give the Wii away.
Edit: But I, of course, cannot face playing it all. I'm 36...
Don't forget, that a lot of default patches were not applied by default back in the day. So it may have just worked out of the box with an older version of the loader. I suspect this happened to me too, as I had a game save with 10% progress or something as well.I wasn't sure if I had the game, but apparently, I did. I have 23% in it, so I must've played it on the wii (tested it on the vwii). for me, it seemed to freeze right after selecting start with button 2. I managed to get it working by doing what @XFlak did, disabling or setting to default all options that could be. no issues then. I didn't change "return to" either. game works (tried a second time), and exiting exits to usb loader gx, so I think I've got it.

Back in the day I was using CFG usb-loader, now I'm using GX, so that may also be a factor. Either way, it's an easy fix![]()
I just played about 10 minutes of it and it seemed to work. That's with it being loaded for the first time on the most recent WiiFlowLite, i.e. I do not have an old setup that's been messed about with. Quite a good game actually. If the Wii could do 720p it would be sweet.
I think it's mostly a usb loader gx issue, since I think it has more options. global settings are not a good idea with the game. it could be as simple as nand emulation that it has a problem with. I know that skyward sword doesn't like it = black screen.
Partial emunand is for saves, so you don't have to save to the system.
Both that, the ability to easily switch between Wii (U)'s, and the fact that Brawl's save is actually pretty big.I guess so that it's easier to manage your saves. I have partial emulation set as a global setting.

sorry for bumping an old thread, but this is what popped up when searching for issues related to this game
