Comparison of microSD cards

1gb is the Japan model, 2gb is Taiwan. I don't think they make 2gb Taiwan.

Test run with HD Tach and a standard SD-USB adapter

Conclusion:

2gb Taiwan is only .1 mb/s slower than the 1gb Japan model in average reading time. Random Access, however, is .3 seconds slower.

I suspect it's your card reader which is limiting the read speeds on both cards.

Same MicroSD cards, different MicroSD card readers:

for your information kingston is located in taiwan, but they used bad parts at their main factory, the japanese factory used refurbished chips thats why its better, i heard that kingston 2gb is better quality since they had so many complaints.

Are there any 2gb cards speedy like the kingston 1GB Japan ones? Suitable for Castlevania - Portrait of Ruin on an R4?

Just got my 2gb microsd from buy.com
Made in Taiwan. Tryed Castlevania - Portrait of Ruin and it does lock up at the wrap point.
Also tryed Pokemon Diamond. (some have been reporting of freezing) Now I did not test it for a long time, maybe 5min 3-4 battles
but it did not freeze on me. If this changes i'll let you know.
