Why would Square Enix, put the "firmware specific dependencies" in it?

it could be caused by the compiler,

when you code, you save a lot of time by using standard library's such as "stdin".
the compiler will deal with this using library functions it comes with.

not all company's use the same stuff.

some use one from sony,
but god-eater was compiled with GCC.
that's just an example.

maybe sony is sending out devkits with new library's.

I see, but why use the 6.20 Standard Libary, or Compiler? To force people to update, or to put in new features? Like faster loading, or like you said maybe Sony sent out Devkits with new library's to change up the code making it difficult to play the game without certain requirements.

when i was in the industry in the psx days, sony was strict.

you *had* to use there tools, you *had* to use listed call's & library's
and they could update or recall the software or hardware at will.

all games had to be submitted to sony for final clearance when finished.
if you had deviated from the rules it wouldnt get released!

the reason they gave was to be sure that the games would work on future hardware releases.

Can't wait for BBS. I've been a KH fan for a while now, beaten all of them except 358/2 (Couldn't due to broken DS, and my ROM save mysteriously disappeared). I love every KH they put out for some reason, though my least favorite is II. KH fanboy? Hell yeah I'm a KH fanboy. BBS looks very interesting plot-wise and fun gameplay-wise. My sister let me have her PSP just in time for it too.

I did not put them in the list because I don't like those, but I did play the ps2 version and GBA.
