Some new gameplay clips of Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded have been unveiled on the official site. It's a remake of a Japanese cell phone game for DS and comes with completely restructure gameplay elements, taking ideas from Birth By Sleep and 358/2 Days.

Footage first of the platforming, and secondly of the "overclock system" which enhances your weapons and magic during combat in real time-

Re:Coded is a remake of Kingdom Hearts Coded, but in terms of gameplay, it's like an all new game. The gameplay is totally different now. The story is set to be much the same. Set after KH2, King Mickey and Jimminy Crickets find strange messages and events in the recorded journals from past adventures that they don't recall writing. They convert the journals into data and even create a data projection of Sora to relive adventures in the journal and find strange new areas and characters. [/p]

Re:Coded is set for Japan on October 7th. A localization is also in the works and well under way. No release date for the US yet, but it has a good chance of coming this year, possibly near the holidays.

Looks good but I think they're recycling to much from 358/2 days. Also, I hope they let you change the controls so I can map たたかう to any other button other then A...

Was uninterested in this game at first, but it actually looks like a bit of fun. Maybe it's just my KH-fanboyism telling me to get it. =(

I really wonder, just how much of this is just recycled code from KH days. [IMG]

A lot of course, but it's not the entire game. The base engine is the same, but there are a lot of enhancements added from Birth By Sleep in terms of gameplay. And some new gameplay elements as well. World wise, there are several new ones (from Days that is, they are mostly from KH1). Only about 3 of the 9 worlds were in Days, and they are apparently constructed differently anyways. Gameplay wise, there's a lot different. Especially the parts with sidescrolling levels, Space Harrier shooter like levels, and even turn based battles. Several of the worlds have these little parts that stand out.

The whole block platforming seems a bit redundant. But who knows.

Same here, I don't like the concept of platforming in a KH game (and to be honest, just hitting boxes and jumping on them - sometimes with proper timing - isn't all that fun, no matter how you look at it). I must admit I like the news that this'll have elements of Birth by Sleep, I thought it was an awesome game.
