Previously, we knew that Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance was set for a Spring 2012 release in Japan (Spring runs from March to May). Now, according to a flyer submitted to GoNintendo, the game is going to be released in Japan during April 2012. We're not sure if the flyer is legit or not, but, it seems reasonable. If true, it also announces a "Leaf Green" color for the Nintendo 3DS.

A leaf green colour to the 3DS would be really and I think that any shade of green will really compliment the 3DS.

The source is a forum... That's not really a credible source, in fact the first post is a straghtdown copy of the first part there. And the gonintendo article makes no mention of kingdom hearts 3D. I do not want to sound like a prick here, but I can't think that this would qualify as news, because the sources are incredibly shaky.

About that thread, I can add [rumour] to the title, but it's already specified "possibly".
Thought, for source, GoNintendo would be better suited than a forum post.

For KH, look at the picture of the flyer.
The last name is Kingdom heart 3D | Dream Drop Distance | 2012 04

Also, wasn't Metal Gear Snake Eater announced for 2012 ?
    the flyer says 2011/11

What I translate from that flyer:

    • Nintendo 3DS Misty pink (October 20th)
    • Super Mario 3D Land (Nov 3rd)

Oh, wait, someone already did it on the GoNintendo comments:

Okay, is this game a spin-off or a sequel? I can't tell since most games these days don't follow up with the on-going plot.

Technically, spin-off, but it ties directly into the plot of 3, from what I understand.

Its similar to what Chain of Memories was to KH2 (Side Story directly tying into the next game)

A spinoff that its events will lead to KH3

Right, and this is Half-Life 2: Episode 3, except it's coming out. :P

The fact that the title isn't numbered doesn't make it a spin-off.

It's no spinoff. Nor a side game like Days or ReCoded. Like Birth By Sleep, Nomura and his team are developing the game internally to be up to par with an official "numbered" title in the series. So while it doesn't contain an official number, it's just as relevant as one that does and directly advances the main plot in important ways. Birth By Sleep is internally considered "Kingdom Hearts 0". And if it weren't for the fact that it would piss people off that this wasn't THE KH3 everyone expected (the final resolution to the Xehanort saga), KH3D would easily be named appropriately. It is the fourth main game in the series, following BBS/KH1/KH2. KH3 will be the fifth main game.

I wouldn't put it in the same league as Chain of Memories either. Both are technically linking games that directly tie into a sequel, but at least 80% of COM was completely worthless filler. Not so with KH3D. It was stated that all 3D's Disney worlds would be totally new (and the one we've seen so far is indeed new). And the one returning world we've seen (Traverse Town) is completely redesigned in a manner that it's practically brand new.

So basically, you may as well just call the game Kingdom Hearts 3. It might not be the specific KH3 that everyone was expecting, but it IS the next step in the series' plot progression. What it is called is irrelevant in that matter. You could technically have called BBS the first game, and KH1 is actually KH2, with KH2 being the third game and this one the fourth. Doesn't matter, what matters is how important the game is to advancing the story. And thus far, there are four games in the series that are of similar caliber in that regard.

I hope it comes out as early as possible. I can't wait to see Neku again. I wasn't going to get this game, but Neku being in it is a reason for me to buy it. I simply have to play it now. I hope the sales demonstrate how much we want another TWEWY game!
