These Kinect hacks just keep getting better and better. This latest is from YouTube user TakayukiFukatsu and turns him invisible. Just let that sink in for a moment then hop past the break to see him do his best Kevin Bacon impression.

I dunno about you, but now I REALLY WANT A KINECT.

seriously whats the point?
the point of kinect is to show your picture on the screen on a still (=fixed) background
if you want to be "invisible", aka "not appear", then just take a picture of the background ...

it defeats the whole purpose doesnt it? I must be missing the point.

I guess it's cooler looking _almost_ invisible and not totally invisible.

I love how you guys don't understand how this works.
Kinect basically works (for games) by analysing the three dimensional shape of your body and creating a simple 3d model out of it (basically no real details, just a mere outline)

With this tech demo, kinect uses it's 3d cameras to look behind you, then map your surround as a texture to a 3d model of your body. atleast that's what I think it does, maybe it's not using a virtual 3d model, but it surely works along these lines.

I wish people would stop calling these Kinect "Hacks" the only hacking that was done was in making the driver for it. Anything past that is now just PC software that uses the driver to read the input and interpret it. You wouldn't call GlovePIE a Wiimote Hack, would you?

Edit: Ok, maybe GlovePIE is a bad choice. Any piece of Wii Homebrew qualifies really. The initial homebrew channel is a hack, as is the act placing other channels in but pieces of homebrew themselves are not hacks.
