Did you really kill your Wii by turning your DVD+R disc in the wrong way [IMG]

Weird, first time I put in a Wii game it was turned the wrong way, didn't seem to do much to my Wii.

I've put in my discs the wrong way multiple times. Of course, it had be scared as hell since it was making those strange sounds you mentioned above, but everything still plays correctly. ;O Maybe something else killed your drive. @_@

Sounds like a forced insertion wrecked it not the disc being the wrong way round.

The wii works fine can browse the net in internet channel, all channels work but the Disc channel does not

Cant read any discs, I have tried all discs mentioned in first post, non work.

Put in a new wiikey, but still no luck, opened drive and placed it back in after giving lens and cogs good clean.

different sound now, doesnt sound as bad, but still no luck with discs.

Once got a gamecube disc recognised with the wiikey config disc but that was once in about a hundred times.

I have been having disc problems since mario galaxy came out. Always got disc error on first boot up, then had to re-try worked fine once past the boot sequence.
But since this morning when kid put in the disc the wrong way round its now totally Fux0red.

I cant do without Mario Kart

If kids are using the console, they could have done anything to it.

I was in the same type of situation (messed up my Wii DVD-Drive, loud humming/rattle/the odd griding noise, worked inconsistently) after I had bought the retail version of Smash Brothers Brawl. (which my Wii couldn't read)

Called Nintendo, said my Wii wouldn't load the new copy of Brawl and told them it started acting freaky after trying to load it. (which it did)

They had me send it in (free shipping to-and-from) due to the Brawl issue and it came back 8 days later with a new D2C drive inside. (Which runs like a dream, I must say) Keep in mind my warranty had been expired for some time. This was a SSBB issue, remember. [IMG]

If you have Brawl, try it. Even if you don't, just buy Brawl and put the repair claim in. (remember how some older Wii's couldn't read Brawl?)

They aren't too picky about the particulars of what happened anyways. (my wii had obvously been opened before) They contract out the repair work.

Even if you have to buy Brawl (which is very much worth supporting btw), it's still way way cheaper than buying a new DVD Wii drive or a whole new Wii.

ps: maybe have the kids ask you or another adult to change games for them..my little guy and I have this agreement and the discs stay in *much* better condition this way -- kids often don't know any better and they tend to treat the delicate game discs like they treat their toys -- pretty rough [IMG]

Try adjusting the laser strength via the pot, there are a few guides flying about and as long as your not heavy handed youll be fine, did mine after it started playing up, been fine for weeks now lol will read anything.
