Pretty impressive I'd say.
Congrats Sony, great results for something you should've done 3 years ago.
They are popular christmas presents.
With all that cash they should be able to finally finish that damn'd PS2 emulator native for all PS3's!
Now all we need is a PC emulator...
Well it was already announced for development correct?
But there was just no set date, and kept getting pushed back. >.>
I'm looking forward to it too. (:
Unfortunately, no. They registered a patent for it, but they have said on multiple occasions that they won't be developing such an emulator because "people buy a PS3 for PS3 games". Ugh...
There's still hope though. As soon as selling PS2 games via PSN becomes interesting and PS2 hardware doesn't sell well anymore, I bet we'll see such an emulator. Sony also announced that there wouldn't be a 250 GB PS3 Slim model or Uncharted 2 bundle when the PS3 Slim was announced. Less than 3 months later it's already in stores...
And I thought the Wii did well.
Congrats, Sony. The once underdog is now a rising star. Now lower the PS3 Slim to $200 for me
It's about time the PS3 started to pick up in sales. This should have happened two years ago.
Sony probably can't catch up this generation, but Bluray movie discs are truly being their divine providence...
they should be beat out 360 sales though
Still not even close to 360's world wide sales.. If we go by VGChartz number.. PS3 is at what? ~32 million or so? Microsoft just announced they have sold over 39 million world wide..
vgchartz is missing about 2.5m units from the 360 sales which is odd
if they are off on 360 sales
I wonder what other sales are off
thats still embarrassing though
a system that was released a year before the other 2
all the sales that came from rrod and bans
new stuff and christmas always is a ultimative combo, thanks to the ps3 slim, i think they're still gonna pown microsoft and get into second place in the purchasing race
lol... I guess we'll see.
It did. Wii sold 3 million in just one country.
PS3 sold under 4 million worldwide. That's how Sony works. They always post worldwide figures to make their sales look bigger.
^that doesnt make any sense
if they post the worldwide sales, and people know its the world wide sales then how does it make it look bigger?
its not like they claimed it was just one regions sales numbers
Like Wii sales in America really matter. People here buy everything. I think a worldwide sale approach is much better.
Because if they posted just their American numbers they'd look small in comparisson to the competition.
And if Nintendo posted their global sales figures they'd dwarf the PS3's global sales figures. That's why just after Nintendo said they "sold 3 million Wii in America" Sony was quick to say "Well we sold almost 4 million PS3...worldwide." lol, that's just how Sony works. They're a great company with terrific hardware but when it comes to PR they're totally sleazy. Remember their racist and anti-religious ads? I do. That company will do anything for attention.
And lol @ the fanboy saying American sales don't matter. Most of the PS3's 3+ million worldwide sales came from America.
But that's lower than the psp-go!
