    That was one funny movie.
Too irreverent for my taste. I actually met people from Kazak before. What actions did the government took against Sacha?

IMO it is funny as shit but there are some things that surely cross some boundaries. Have you guys seen it?

Watched first 10 minutes of it and then went and watched something more interesting.. such as an infomercial. You should note that I do this to most movies that don't capture me in the first 10-15 minutes.

He does state some truth about Kazakhs. I'm an Uzbek, and I do know MANY Kazakh people, and the method in which he tried to marry Pamala is actually similar to a tradition of the nomads. Also the word "Juhud" means Jew in Kazakh and Uzbek, it comes from the Farsi word Juhud. It is also used as a word to describe cowards and good for nothing.

Same in Bolivia. But there are a LOT of other things that are not from their culture.

It was funny but a bit icky.
I loved the old jew couple that ran the B&B where Borat was staying.
Or when he wanted to book a hotel while acting all gangsta'. That was funny as hell.

I thought it was a very funny film. I think the fact that he was willing to cross some boundary's that other people wouldn't is what gave it that little bit extra.

I watched it in their theater the day it came out. The room was packed and I was with 4 friends. I think 3/4ths of the people who were there were older then 30s. Which really surprised me. THe movie was all over the news before it came out. Because of the jewish comments and all.
I was on long Island NY, which has a good population of people with jewish background.
Soo during the "Running of the jew" half the theater was gasping while my friends and I were laughing our asses off.
I'm pretty sure people didn't understand that it was all a joke. Which made watching it in the theater with all these clueless people even funnier. Because I was laughing at the movie and peoples reactions.

No, he really didn't ... that was hyperbole to push the movie ...

He has been arrested whilst doing Da Ali G Show, though ...

I thought the same thing when I saw it.. there are some really funny and smart moments, showing how many people are completely ignorant about other cultures. And at the same time there are some forced and stupid parts..

    Anyway, I liked it [IMG]

Someone once told me that the movie was actually a commentary on how America treats foreigners...
But I think that that's just a load of crap.

I didn't like the film much.
However, I thought the skits on "Da Ali G Show" were much better than the movie...

Here's a little info that will give you some interesting insight ... Sacha Baron-Cohn's cousin is Simon Baron-Cohen, the Professor of Developmental Psychopathology at Cambridge University.

Didn't like this movie at all. I didn't finish it. The only funny part I thought was the chicken, and how he puts it in a drawer lol. Nothing else even came close to making me laugh
