Hacking Just got my N3DSXL. Question re: sky3ds and latest fm

I ordered Sky3ds and it won't arrive for another week or so. I would like to purchase a couple of things through the store, but I need to update.

Sky3ds says they support the latest firmware. Should I wait to get the product, or go ahead and update?

I know it's sounds like a dumb question, but I've been out of the scene for a while. The last thing I actually did a work around for was my PSP back in 2008 with the battery shorting

If you're lucky enough to have gotten one on 9.2 or below, don't update it, use CFW and spoof your way onto the eShop with FreeMultiPatcher. Otherwise, if you don't care about homebrew stuff and are on 9.3 or higher, it's your choice, but the general consensus is not to update (especially not right now, they just released a new firmware which patches some homebrew stuff, but not all).

Ok, I have 9.5.0-22u.

I'll hold off for a while till I read more into what homebrew is available.

I have my FFIV cart to keep me busy in the interim .

Give us a System Firmware number so you can get a recommended answer

If 9.2 or lower: Install a CFW on the 3ds
If 9.3 or higher: keep the sky

ok, I got my Sky3ds working.

stupid question, but does it work or can regular .nds games be loaded and played with the sky3ds? Ive looked all over and cant find a simple answer or actually a mention of it working.

No, you need a separate DS flashcart for that.

What is the best one that is playing DS games. I have an AceKard 2i which is about 3-4 years old, but I'm guessing there are much better ones now.

That's why I got a QQ3DS, same card, but comes with an NDS cart too. But, yeah, gotta have a diffent cart than SKY3DS to play NDS games
