Just got a Switch. Would it be safe to use the same account that I use on my 3DS? It's modded with Luma3DS but it's not banned. (knock on wood)

However...since my account has been online at some point on this unit...having a potential banwave would be possibility.

If that happens...would my Switch be pwned for online use?

I use the same account on my Switches and 3DS with Luma, didn't really see a sign of banning and they have no reason to do so. They might at max just ban your account along with your digital purchases, not your un-moded Switch. You can then link the Switch with another new account.

great so it doesn't blacklist the console itself. I don't have any purchases digitally. Only Club Nintendo rewards on 3DS and DSI

I didn't work for Ninty, so I can't promise you that it's 100% safe. But I didn't got banned nor do I think they will do it that way especially in the US. People will file a class suit if they ban un-moded machines.

(I didn't even got banned on the 3DS even until today, and I go online pretty much every time.)

I seem to remember someone actually asking Nintendo this directly (as they had a My Nintendo account linked to a banned NNID) a while ago and the response they got was that they were separate things.
I wouldn't worry.

The account shouldn't be a problem, it's not flagging the console specifically. Your account on the 3DS and the Switch are also effectively separate unless you do something like fraud.

What the ban-issue is with the Switch is if they detect it's unique ID in association with cheating or unowned products or whatnot. Then they will blacklist the console, which is permanent.

If you have cfw, I doubt youd have money on your nintendo account. Dont see why youd want to link it to the switch.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
