Hacking Just got a R4 SDHC Dual Core card, but 3ds roms won't boot?

First off I have not messed with flash carts since like 2008 when I had a R4 for my dslite and I never had any issues. I just loaded the new OS and put roms on it and never had any issues. I went through the noob forum, but I am just lost with all this stuff. I just want a simple OS to put on here that will play my roms.

Well, I got a 3DS flash cart today and i put a ds game rom (castlevania) and a 3ds game rom (Majora's mask) on my 16 gb sd and the DS game boots fine, but the 3ds game won't do anything at all ( I downloaded a different copy to just make sure it wasn't the rom and I am putting the .3ds file on the card not the RAR file.)

My 3ds is at firmware 7.2.0 and I downloaded the kernal from the R4 website, but if I need to get a firmware update or something just let me know. I don't care about emulation or anything I just want to play zelda lol

This flashcard is for DS games only.

You may get a Sky3ds or a Gateway3ds if you want to launch 3ds roms.

Well, the problem is that your flashcard is unable to play 3DS roms. Take a look at http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/3DS_Flashcart_Comparison to see which flashcards are able to play 3DS roms. Unfortunately it's impossible to play 3DS roms on your device :/

Why would you give him wrong information when it's fairly obvious he can play 3DS roms with either a Gateway or a Sky3DS.

If you meant "Unfortunately it's impossible to play 3DS roms on your device WITH THIS FLASH CART :/" THEN I would agree with you.

Are you guys serious? Talk about misleading product advertisement and even the reviews on the item on the R4-usa site say nothing about this not working with 3ds games. I take it they wouldn't give my money back either...this seriously sucks.

The thing WORKS in a 3ds, but do NOT launch 3ds roms.

Well, I wasn't on here before nor did I buy anything from here I came here for help lol. I usually always study up on stuff before purchasing but I ASSUMED a 3ds r4 card that was produced in 2015 and advertised as the newest and best one on the site would you know play 3ds roms kinda like the ds r4 card played....ds roms. I know they can't advertise these things on the website like "plays your pirated or ripped games!" and the reviews all are like it played everything perfect!! But I guess it's my fault for not researching something like mad for once.

Well, since i am stuck with this thing can it play gba roms?, emulation? what are the perks over the 8 year old r4 DS card I already have besides supporting much larger micro sd cards?

Before you guys burn me at the stake I'm on the computer at work which crashes when I go to the compatibility chart you linked me too...this POS can barely display chrome lol.

First thing you need to do is find out what version fw your 3ds has. Look in system settings bottom right corner. Report back and we can provide your options. Do not update yet.

Yeah, the "R4" is made by at least a dozen different makers. None of whom have any connection to the people who made the R4 you had for your DS lite.

They're all just using the reputation of the R4 brand and misleading descriptions to lure people in.

unfortunally gba emulation is really bad, the perks are almos the same as your old card..
there is a good gameboy color emulator gameyob.
there is also a NES one. and some others for old systems..
for gba, DS is pretty limited, the emulator that exists tries to do its best... the compatibilty is really poor...

you should remember theese sites are probably china\shaddy\overseas... and markething is a bitch.. and most of reviews (specially on the website) are made up.. unless its from trustable reviewers.. (like regular gbatemp members that are not linked to a shop..)
probably you can return the card, but it sure depends on the "store mood" and very high change you have to pay to return it (and waste more money on shipping it back and forth than the card itself)

since you are on 7.x if you updated to 7.x using internet (dont update it again.), you can get a gateway. but that means you will also need a ocarina of time game (that supports the hack) or a cubic ninja game... (for your region)..

If your on 7.x i suggest searching online for a Gateway 3DS card which is the best one out there imo especially if you like running your homebrew and playing out of region games, Sky3DS is also an option which mimics a real game and also region free afaik but for now it hasn't been blocked yet altho its been speculated that it would be really easy for nintendo to patch even despite it been out for some time now, otherwise you can throw both of those 2 cards off your list and run a CFW (google is your friend) which will load .cia games or homebrew from the SD card.

You might want to mention next time that the CFW will not play games made in the last 18 or so months.
