I just want to know if the card is still considered reliable. I recently found my drive is compatible with the device (didn't really check before) using the following pic: http://i.imgur.com/jQuTN.jpg As I'm aware it is compatible with all liteon drives except
Liteon DG16D5S.
Would there perhaps be any reasons not to go with this thing?

Also, in case it is a viable purchase, could someone perhaps direct me to one of the better guides to use?
I found this link: http://forums.qj.net...-tutorials.html but if there's another you'd like to suggest, please do.

Thanks for the help, which site should I use to refer to for new FW rev.'s?

Also, would you say the guide I linked to is good enough, or is there another you'd possibly recommend?

If you know how to disassemble your 360 slim then it would be a piece of cake to install the x360key. (with that guide)

It's a good idea to bookmark xbox-scene and check it regularly.

Usually FW updates come a few days after a new dashboard update.
note: DO NOT update your dashboard BEFORE you have updated your x360key.
This is to reduce the chances of getting banned.

Ahh, thanks. Though I've never opened my 360 before unfortunately =\
Do you perhaps know a guide which does cover that?

Also, just to be certain. I did read that all but that one liteon drive are compatible. And as I understand the only Slims to come with that specific model are those with an MFR date of September 7th, 2011. The MFR date I see on the white sticker at the back of my 360 says 2010-09-10. So that's definitely good, right?

A guide for disassembling your slim can be found here

It's also a great opportunity to dust it out and check the DVD drive label.
That way you're 100% certain of the drive + revision

One final question. I'm a little confused about getting the drive key. The guide I linked to covers it only briefly. Maybe I'll understand when I get the thing, though could you tell me how it is done exactly?

If you have an x360 USB Pro and a connectivity kit (or use the 360 as powersource but thats not recommended) you can hook it up and load Jungleflasher.

Then you'll want to head to the DVDKey32 tab.
Click on the SlimKey button and click on NO if you're prompted to send a unlock signal to your drive.
Then Jungleflasher will grab your DVD Key and serial data.
Then you're prompted with another screen named MTK Vendor intro failed.
Click YES and power cycle your drive (turn it on and off in 1 rapid succession)

Then save your drive key and voila.
You've dumped your DVD key.

I will pop in to say buyer beware. My box is an older Phat model, and the key just resets games after about ten minutes. Apparently older systems have a lot of trouble meeting the power needs of both the system and the Xk3y. Some work, some don't.

It was correct, I even double checked the cables. I also thought that they shortened the name of the x360key to Xk3y before release.

x360key and xk3y are 2 different devices.

Have you plugged in a 2.5 inch drive or a 3.5 inch drive?
2.5 inch drives draw a lot of power from the USB.

Wrong, X360key and Xk3y are the same thing. Maybe you are thinking about the X360dock.

Anyway, there is a reset issue in a small number of Xk3y installs but it is usally resolved by replacing the Xk3y and has occured on both Phat and Slim systems (http://www.x360keyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=556).

3.5 inch, made sure to do that. The next poster basically has the story right, though the replacement didn't help. I might give it one more chance and try it without the remote to see if that helps.
