The only thing that's WFC is the basement of any Pokémon Center and the Global Terminal in Goldenrod City where the Game Corner is. As long as you avoid those areas, you can communicate with players in any way the game will let you.

It will be either English, or maybe Spanish. These games to this day don't get a complete localization for Portugal or Brazil.
There's absolutely no region locking or anything similar when it comes to trading Pokemon since Gen 4 I believe (or was it Gen 3?).

Just curious, by "Portuguese" you meant Brazil or Portugal? I take it it's Brazil because you're NTSC.

Pretty much. A few issues aside (stuff like Japanese Gen 3 truncating names), the major region lock was last seen with Korean Gen 4 since they released later.
I should have been clearer, I meant Portugal. So there's no region locking whatsoever (so I can play it on American consoles and trade etc. as if it's the American version), and the game will be in either English or Spanish? That's what I'm hoping for. I ended up paying significantly less than an American copy of HeartGold goes for, too.
