I might be going there, so i figured i would ask you guys... since i don't know anyone I can personally ask.

does anyone here go there, or know someone who goes there? do they censor the internet like they do at public high school? I would imagine, they do. but i cant seem to find anything on Google on it.

to answer your specific internet question they don't even have real computers they have these little net boxes that are like the size of a wii with a monitor keyboard and mouse attached run from a virtual box in texas it's slow as shit no usb ports no nothing no programs but the internet most websites blocked including facebook myspace just about everything else anything and everything good for sure. there is only about one of those crap computers per 30 kids or so.

but on the plus side the rest of the place is so bad that one computer problem wont bother you at all.

being outnumbered by the worst black people you will ever meet in your life 5-1 isn't great either but also something you wont even consider.

everyone and i mean everyone smokes like 9 out of ten maybe more.

it's basically a prison you arent being forced to stay at but while you are there it will be a prison.

no such thing as privacy or yeah i'll stop here could go on for years though.

I understand that, and i do not plan on screwing around. I have a skill in mind, but I enjoy my Armagetron Advanced and hope to play it in the evening. I don't have anything against Black people, I don't know where that came from actually.

wireless router is definitely a no you'll get a big speech about how you are on government property when you get there and anything you do without explicit permission on their networks is a federal offense and you could end up with serious jail time for just about anything.

tethered cell phone internet would be fine though.

also they have the right to search through your computer for porn at any time for any reason and if any is found the computer will be confiscated until you go home if you refuse a search you will be sent home.

You might be able to negotiate a ds or something getting in, but good luck for most things. Like said, the sole purpose of you being there is to learn a skill, and find work. That's all you'll be doing, and really have time for.

a ds is definitely ok to bring and use, they did search my microsd card inside my flashcard for porn though.

well, looks like i'm getting some stuff at home if they freak out, i have a second wireless router i was going to take with me, and hide the signal. It's not something I would like to do, but have to more than likely.

if i need to hide something, I know how. but i wouldn't have anything to hide, I am more a person of news more than anything, I would hate to have them block.

i didn't say that the porn was a big deal just they will randomly take your shit and search for it rather inconveniently.

all of that sites should be there i think just any social networking will be blocked.

hell, you cant beat free right? virtual box, you mean that they run a virtual copy of windows on a linux box and split it to several different towers? if that's what you meant, i've already been through that hell in computer app's the second time around when i was in high school, there is always a flaw where people least expect it.

just have to hide zsnes somewhere like i did, in my case it was in the language folders.

From his description, I'm assuming it's a WYSE terminal. You will not be able to install anything. Nor should you plan on it having USB ports that are available, and even if so, that the system won't be so locked down that it will allow you running executables from USB.

Also, yes, they block myspace and facebook on port 80 only. They allow access to the IM protocol.. good luck with that.

I only know job corps from the really crappy commercials i've seen a few times. But why the hell don't you go to some local community college? Not a single person that has responded to you has had anything positive to say. From the way you are, not only continuing to seem interested, more enthusiastic with each post, it seems as if you already had your mind made up - in which case, why ask?
