"Jingle Bells" isn't a Christmas song.

Technically. Think about it.

Discuss.

And, so as not to appear like yet another misplaced Testing Area topic, I'll elaborate. The song wasn't even written with Christmas in mind, it was written for Thanksgiving (or so they say), but doesn't really nail any specific date down, since all it requires is a freak blizzard to blow over some snow from the mountains. If you have those. That and Santa and some other "Christmas customs" that are actually no more than 50 years old shows that the "modern" Christmas was created by jumbling together everything that seemed like a jolly good idea at the time. And why not? It's been a Christmas practice for almost two thousand years (give or take a few centuries) to just take the parts that seem jolly from any old winter tradition and mold them together.

So feel free to start your own Christmastime tradition and see if it catches on. Because common practice tells us that it just might.
