So what's the difference between SW and HW?

Hardware is lower-level emulation (more interaction with the DS rendering hardware) while Software emulation does all the rendering in software.

What's the advantage to each? I guess what I'm asking is why does a software renderer exist, it sounds like hardware should be better.

I dont remember which does it but

one of the versions stretches the image to fit in the screen and it has some slightly noticeable slowdowns (52fps against 60, normally)

I'm happy to have an emulator of a 16-bit console that gives this improvement.

SnemulDS (eventhough it is a good emulator) hids some parts of the screen...!

Hardware ='s Better framerate More compatability issues and gltches.
Software = Lower framerate, better compatability/less glitches.
