If I jailbreak my phone will my phone company ever find out? Like if I pay my bill online will they somehow find out my phone is jailbroken or no? I always thought they could find out that way and cancel your service.

Ummm no they can't, even if they could it's not illegal. The only peeps who can tell are apple and that's only when you show them your phone

I believe there was a recent ruling that extended a previous ruling to now cover all phones being jailbroken (which is to say modified to allow user code, unlocking to allow different networks is a different matter and supposedly illegal in the US). Moreover what would they do anyway? Even if you are on a contract the contract is leveraged against your credit, as messed up a concept as most credit is.

The only issue I can really see arising (other than the unlocking) would be if your contract stipulates things pertaining to data tethering and that is not all that relevant to jailbreaking.

Oh I see. No I wasn't to unlock my phone but I have been thinking about jailbreaking my phone but not sure don't want my phone to be messed up. If you jailbreak do you have to re-add all your contacts and photos etc.?

My post is bugged... I typed a lot of information but it disappeared.

What I typed: [in brief summary]

Jailbreaking does not delete any of your data assuming you do it right.

Tell me the specs of your phone and I would be happy to help you perform a data-lossless jailbreak.
Code:
iPhone Model:
iOS Version:
Computer OS:
iTunes Version:

iPhone Model: iPhone5S
iOS Version: 7.1.2
Computer OS: Windows 7
iTunes Version: 11.3.1.2

I am sorry, I forgot a few crucial questions, but so far you are good to go.
Code:
How did you update to 7.1.2? Did you use the "Software Update" tab in "Settings.app," or did you update with iTunes / Computer?
Do you have iCloud enabled?
Do you have any music that is non-iTunes purchased? (We need to manually back this up)
Do you have "Restrictions" enabled?
Do you have "Pass-code" enabled?
What carrier do you have?
Are you familiar with DFU mode? (Similar to Recovery Mode)
Do you know your Apple ID and Password? (To temporarily disable FindMyiPhone)

Alright! Good news! You can jailbreak without fear of a brick, and with the information you provided me you are good to go!

**The "Backup" function does NOT save your non-purchased songs, fair warning**

Go ahead and follow the preparation video I listed above.
In your case, just turn off Restrictions and Pass-Code
After that, make another "backup" with iTunes.

The only songs are ringtones so I will have to re-add those ringtones to my phone then? Also will my contacts and photos etc. Will be there after jailbreaking?

How do you know a brick won't happen?

Because I asked for all of your specs. I am highly confident you will not brick your phone. The worst you can do is "brick it" to the point where the phone is stuck on the boot logo, causing you to perform a restore.

Performing an iTunes "Backup" saves all your photos and contacts in the backup file, so when you restore everything will be there.
The ringtones however, need to be manually backed up. Use a 3rd party tool like this:

Alright, also how do I know if a certain theme or widget works or not for ios7?

I wanted these and not sure if they will work or not -

https://ponywave.de/desktop-ponies-4-ios-english/

http://sorata-daidouji.deviantart.com/art/MLP-FiM-iDevices-Theme-261963885

Those widgets are for iOS 7.
The Theme is a Winterboard theme, compatible with all iOS versions.
You are in luck.
After you are SURE you backed everything up, go ahead and download panGu v1.2 and install (follow tool instructions)
http://dl.pangu.25pp.com/jb/Pangu_v1.2.exe
IN CASE OF FAILURE:
It might fail the first time, follow the on screen instructions. If it fails, use iTunes and restore your device to FACTORY SETTINGS.
Then "Set up as new iPhone"
MAKE SURE iTunes DOES NOT AUTO BACKUP! IT MAY OVERWRITE THE OLD ONE!
Once the phone is "new" go through the "setup" crap on the device. After that, run the jailbreak tool again and follow the instructions.
After a successful jailbreak, open Cydia and let it respring your device after 5mins of filesystem setup. (Leave it alone)

Then, go back into iTunes and restore your personal backup (not restore phone, just backup). After that, put all your music/ringtones back on.
Bam! You are jailbroken with everything back on!

How do I know if iTunes is not set to AUTO BACKUP?

And really those themes work with all ios's? A lot of the creators kept saying ONLY FOR IPHONE4 etc.

Ah good point. I forgot this.
It works with all iOS, however because iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S have bigger screens, they may look goofy with an iPhone 4 theme. You can still use it, but I would wait for an update or fix the aspect yourself.
