Sorry if this question is retarded. Ive been told by my friend you can play GB(c)(a),(s)nes and I think genesis games through the action replay dsi. Now I would buy a flashcart but my dad doesn't trust any websites besides Ebay and amazon and hed throw a pissyfit about it being illegal and whatnot. If its true can you explain in detail and links to what I have to download it would be very appreciated. Thanks!

The issue is not flash carts, the issue is downloading ROMs. You can't download a ROM even if you own the game.

That said, you can run DS games on the 3DS just fine. For other systems it's hit or miss. Older/weaker systems like the NES and GB/C work fine, but SNES/GBA is sort of complicated. The only way to play them anywhere nearing actual speed and such is through a special cart like the DSTwo (no recommended R4-named cart will do it).

Read these.

if you get one of the older ones, thats not 3ds compatible, you can play them on a DSi. but the 3ds compatible arDSi dont have an micro SD slot

EDIT: nesDS words great for nes roms. SnemulDS works good for snes.
